I recommend that you immediately inform management of the problem. If they are hesitant to buy proper licenses, inform them that you need to start uninstalling the unlicensed software (and be sure to follow through on this if you have to). That will help motivate them to do the right thing.

No offense, but, to motivate management you'll sure not need to kick against their heels ...

If you'd like to motivate them, you better explain the truth about licensing, BSA and liability, which gives much MUCH more motivation!

Your motivation would be -the direct way out- of a company, for most managers, with that kind of attitude! Wonder if this has to do with your nickname ;)

I've been writing about this lately at my blog about this. Why would a president be able to pay for his commercial deeds with 1 euro symbolic, while the others get outragious fines?

  19. Try to live in Antwerpen City with a car! on Use Your iPhone To Get Out of a Ticket · · Score: 1

For about 250 Euro you can rent yourself a spot per month; which is half of a house-rent.

Instead of creating more possibilities for the people living in town, they scrap parking spots and write up more!
Without any consideration of living in that area while dropping off groceries with the car...

The only hours you might be able to find a parking spot without driving around for 20 minutes is not on fridays & saturdays and at night (around 1:30-5:00).

As cherry on top, some cops are REALLY blind when they NEED to see the Antwerp citizen parking card; creating unwanted fines and court cases by the dozens. I'm glad they've been commercializing Antwerpen-Parking because these people seem to be atleast looking to the presence of that card... mostly ... that is ;)

  20. I'd rather like to see active progression ... on Creative Commons Releases "Zero" License · · Score: 1

I've been adopting the CC+ licensing system in Belgium for some time now and have been unable to join Sabam, the Belgian variant of the HFA, Stemra, ...

These organizations demand you to sign away your rights, including those you've been creating under Creative Commons! Making it impossible to release Creative Commons music without royalties being forced up for it. This is one of the basic reasons I've not been joining Sabam yet, to not sign away my current ideal of the ability to release non-commercial with commercial releases as one artist!

More information about this can be found here. I'd like to see some more active progress in the rights system towards existing organizations luring away the common artist from their creative ideal.

I guess discussions "could" be started, by the CC crowd, towards these organizations defending the CC right; since they are basically pissing upon other contracts/licensing deals or forms. In Holland they've started a pilot program to allow CC, but not CC+; since that would have to go through Stemra.

Why shouldn't an artist be free to do what they want with their OWN productions? Even if this is for (non)commercial usage (only) ?
