Wether you like it or not, the computerscene exists of cows-swearing-at-windows, devils-swearing-at-bsd, trees-swearing-at-apples and of penguins-swearing-at-unix; still; it's Microsoft dominating the position of the computermarket which means their products will be more known/used and of'course also more tutored to others. For example; there will be more books and also a bigger market for Microsoft Word instead of OpenOffice or others.
It's what's generally accepted by people that do not know about closed formats and standards and all the secure cr*p (for them atleast) that involves computers. This will also mean the most general accepted solution will be the most given course to the universities/schools.
I as one, am against any-too-Microsoft-loaded-educational package, because it biases and hides the hunderds of other alternatives that can be (lots) cheaper and in most cases even more secure and reliable. Also, in our company we get lots of students, just done with their studies as "engineer in informatics" and who do not know shit about the real world; how deadlines are really being managed, how you program towards reliability, rendundancy and security.
To my opinion the current educational system is flawed and too politically challenged and should be focusing more on solving problems in the (programmers) real world instead of introducing new problems. If schools where politicians I wouldn't see the difference, lots of contributions but without solutions.
I too have been blinded in this, up to 15 years with full PC knowledge which has made me rusted and stuck for Windows and other X86 solutions. I've just bought an Apple (my first one) and I am thinking, how can life be so easy on this operating system and so complicated, aggressive and annoying on the other ?
My 5 cents... Schools should be thinking more about the future of their students instead the future of the companies (halfly) running them; only by teaching how to think open towards solutions, any problem could be solved.
Learn and embrace the solutions to the new world; don't close them out by using software depending on one company on the world...

Lots of these symptoms are also being linked with ADHD; so; what I wonder is; is ADHD created by the extrovert people making the introvert people to think more? I think ADHD is a society-created disorder; made by chaos, unreliability and speed without thinking. Lots of people do really annoy and hurt me just because of their actions without thinking; sortof "shoot before asking questions" instead of "ask questions before shooting"...
Mostly when those people do shoot before asking people any questions; I got to clean up the mess; which makes me hyperactive by thinking continuesly why that "friend" or employee did that action without thinking twice?...
Being fast and abrupt is not always a good choice; why are people being classified in corners as either introvert as extrovert and not been seen as both? Since; most people WILL think if it'll affect their own personal life by any fast decisions; most should be part of both worlds; but only when it suits them?
No offense intended; but; it's something I've been thinking about for years; and; I guess extrovert people just care less about the people around them because they already have enough "friends" around them... But is a friend neccesary a real "close friend" ?
Maybe it's time to think about a USB stick changer; where you can put 20-50-100 USB sticks in a board and where the player will select the next USB key when the previous one is done playing; let's run fast to the patent office before my thoughts are being illegal at some places of this world;)

I cannot believe the autorun on os X is flawless; there is still extra software needed; data gets read; the software will process the data...
The Windows OS only opens a autorun file too; which is linked to a executable; but the principles are just the same, only the practical side is much more exploitable in Windows with its flawed autorun system...
This happened to me when inserting a friends original Beastie Boys CD in my PC to be ripped for my friend mp3 player; since he rips all his cd's here and uses his mp3 collection at home and at his work.
This was the biggest mistake of my life; I needed to reinstall fully; patches did not work anymore, my cd-rom didn't work anymore and I couldn't start my invoicing on my PC.
My complaint to BMG was never answered back; my post on the official beastie boy website was never answered back; so much for "customer satisfaction"...
I felt rather screwed by the ones that sell/sends corrupted audio cd's into this world...
Ok, to drop the humor and be very serious; lets read between the lines I wrote:
In other words, what kind of software gets installed on the device sending those signals ? Who controls the words? What about updates and (computer) security? What happens if such update goes wrong?
On the other side, this could also benefit people with a speech impertinence, to learn them talk (smoother), more understandable.
Maybe in the future certain "dialects" can be "cleaned up" through this device so you could be mr. niceguy in the day and mr. badguy in the night with a glass of gin in your hands...

It gave me 2 of the 3 DHK's for free because someone in a RAID decided a citizen can be attacked too. An entire raid group of 20-30 people can be put in danger by 1 attacking or killing a citizen. Where's the logic?

A friend of mine had the same problem, he was stuck in the US and wanted to return to Belgium, his name went on a list for no reason at all while the guy was there to visit a computer expo and to go for holiday for 2 weeks. He was stopped immediately, he could not get on his flight, he went two days later home with as reason there was an administrative error.
I got stopped at the metro at Antwerpen, Groenplaats; for taking pictures there; I was obliged to go to the office with the police officer if I didn't show the pictures on my camera (which are private material in my eyes and mind). It took me 5 hours to explain I like my privacy as well as the man on the other side of the desk wanted; but always had the question "if I don't do anything wrong, why don't I cooperate?"...
It's funny to tell now, but still it scares the hell out of me for the next time I might be "doing something wrong" which is not illegal; but going to break my privacy and "feeling of freedom".

I do not know how the cellphone market is in the States but here in Europe you can buy a cellphone at any shop, put your sim card in it and the phone just works. Wether it is Nokia, Motorola or the oldest Ericsson; it will always work. If you buy a phone with reduction (like 50 euro for the phone with subscription) there is mostly a SIM LOCK on the phones which prevents another provider sim card to be put in the phone without unlocking.
I've never seen or heart about any phones being crippled (in the literal sense) that badly. I'd feel royally f*cked if I'd get a phone like that.
I even wonder, does Verizon even announce the crippled functions on their cellphones? Because if you go to the manufacturers website you get a phone with full specs - are these specs also similar on the operators website(s)? Such wouldn't be even legal in Europe and would be called "misleading information before sale".
one - I am always friendly, although if any cop mis/abuses his power to show "(s)he is the man" I sortof react clearly back they are as equal as I am and police should be there to protect the citizens and maintaining order in "our society". three - I was stopped by the police why I was making photographs; and that's where the problem came in; where I almost got arrested is when they wanted to SEE what else was on my camera. I've got some personal stuff on my camera which is not illegal but rather really *PERSONAL*. Why would anyone like any policeman on the street be able to get the right to SEE ANYTHING of data/information a citizen is carrying ? I was getting a little bit pissed off because I did not want to show the photo's on my camera and I demanded such official papers; I NEEDED to go with them, give all my stuff and explain why I wouldn't want to show my camera. Isn't that wrong ? In a country where they operate with rules like "not guilty until proven otherwise" ?
Same as with my book, I was asked why I made such statements in my book, because such things are being seen as being a terrorist because I'd not comply with the current society writing this book. I told neatly I am not a terrorist but rather a rebel if you got to name the child; where the clear difference is that a terrorist will force his words with actions/rampage and a rebel will force his words with words; no fights, no terror, WORDS.
The beauty of it all, I still have no official papers that clearly state I should change my book to fit in the current society full of greed, competition and corruption. From the time I get such a paper, a PV (Proces Verbaal); I know free-speech is officially outlawed in Belgium/Europe which would finish my book a lot faster. As the time of today I still do not have this paper. I am a EU citizen and will do everything to protect me and my younglings to arrive in a consuming-only-based-police-state.

Since, they've taken the right to control/destroy my OS, giving no right to listen to my music and not even a privelege. I bought a beastie boy cd without any mentioning it would demolish or rape my PC by installing a program that overwrites important systemfiles; guess the record industry needs to learn what is a RIGHT and what is WRONG.
