If this is implemented, the evil terrorists need only take a few train journeys and collect the government's mislaid laptops filled with the proles' identity card information.
Nice to see that all this material has been kept safe so long while mundane crap like the proles' names, addresses, social security numbers, bank account numbers, passport data etc ad nauseum get left in every train carriage and taxi in the land.
Honest question here, does the 24/7 support ever solve problems? The only time i ever bothered to complain about a faulty product ( a television set that was under guarantee ) all that happened was i got dicked around for 18 months while it got taken away, brought back, failed again, taken away etc. I assume the job of 'support' is to occupy the customer until they get bored of complaining/die/find a work-around/buy a different product.
If you give them keys without instructions, they will simply state that you have given them false keys. Expect charges against you even after they have waterboarded the instructions out of you.
OMG I can't wait, I have been fretting that I don't pay enough via TV license fees and cable charges for repeats of crap films and series from 20 years ago. Can I pre-order yet?
I would posit that enforced driving standards hit efficiency and adaptability as well as freedom in their attempt to bring safety. Risk compensation will erode the safety, too.
Yeah, because those 'legal standards' aren't pulled out from somebody's ass. Speed limits are only for the little people, they don't apply to cops, diplomats, government etc. God forbid that the person in charge of a vehicle be allowed to drive in a manner in keeping with the characteristics of that vehicle, ie speeding up before ascending a hill so that the vehicle doesn't hold up all the traffic following or, conversely, carrying lots of speed through a series of bends where visibility allows this to be safe.
er, won't the hardware be looking crappy with that kind of delay? The top end phones seem to change markedly each year. Or will the target hardware change fast enough that microsoft have to delay again while they get the OS working 'properly'? Rinse, repeat.
Disregarding the camera freaks' shrieking about a qvga resolution ccd with professional lenses giving better results than a 5 megapixel camera phone, I find the biggest drawback to the camera on my phone is that it only takes pictures 5 to 10 seconds after I am pointing it at the thing i want to photograph and pressing the button. WTF is it doing, and why can't it start doing it as soon as i open the lens cover and start aiming?
They are devoted to their work, certainly. 'Their work' being the furtherance of their own careers and ends, they do not waste effort doing the job they are notionally employed to do when only the opinion formed by others matters.
I think the number of people required to build and launch rockets(or indeed perform any function) is always affordable, it is the layers of management ( with its associated support staff, offices, expense accounts, travel etc ) that cost money.
He slagged companies off for including bad, buggy, or just plain useless apps on their machines in exchange for a few bucks on the back end? Was he standing in a faraday cage when he said it?
.. Piss-stained Parrot, when we get to that letter? I don't know why I like the idea so much, but I do. The wallpaper would be great, too. Piss-stained Parrot. Doesn't it sound good?
I hope to god that they edit out the advertising otherwise all us consumers will be frantic with longing for products that are no longer available, what with advertising not being a huge sham and all!
Why are they dicking around with rockets? What does rocket technology have to do with cloning?

I wish i had Insightful mod points for parent....
Is it indicative of anything that when i look at the front or rear of a car I don't see a face? I just see a car and recognise the type. Notable Exception: Frog-eyed Sprite http://www.motorimania.net/manifestazioni/sportive/mg/images/Mg.Sprite.MkI.Frog.Eye.1.jpg

for me, the increase in advertising time and decrease in programme quality were the things that changed my viewing habits.
Also, i need to regularly check my lawn for intruding children.
Oooh! I was playing with a kite the other day, little knowing it was a satellite. :-)
Meh. $215 a month for the intertubes will look good against $216 per gallon for gas.
russians have many low altitudes geosynchronous satellites
Damn Reds and their lack of respect for physics!

Holy Zarquon's singing fish!! Don't even joke about it!!
On a salary? When you can pay your drinks bill with a write-up? (Providing you have made a bone fide attempt to pay)
just use file compression before you send it, that will likely halve the amount of data and therefore cost.
Next!

.. so now the Indian tech support companies that everyone have outsourced to can themselves outsource to some new African companies.
