Have you tried anything from the Ultima recronstruction sites?
http://reconstruction.voyd.net/
Some are really nice, they even made the Ultima 7's much improved and a windows playable game now (used to play that one when I used to have windows).
New games don't seem to have that "magic" in them, like it used to be.
I just play a lot of old games (would put you to sleep if I started listing them all) that start with the C64/Atari 2600 era and end at around the PS1 Era. These where days when a lot of thought and talent went into the making of a game, not like today's games that have gore and high-tech graphics, as a priority.
Ouch! very well said (even though it hurts). I played Everquest for around six years straight: long daily sessions (8-12 hours+). meanwhile, life around me evolved and I became a recluse - not to mention the serious physical problems I developed (back, arm , shoulder, chest, etc - ring a bell anyone?). I even thought I had heart problems, when infact, it was all the sitting and lack of exercise (I'm still a wreck, these things don't go away overnight, specially if you're older). Often, I ask myself; what did I benefit from all of this? NOTHING! It really is a big, waste of time. Normal video games are, a hobby (fun), also a nice distraction. But these MUDs like WOW and EQ are not- you can classify them with all the other bad drugs (booze, crack, etc). Oh, and did I mention it ruins lives too? It didn't manage to ruin mine (as of yet), but I have friends that did. So, when you start to get the little "warnings" - you know, small aches and pains here and there, or you real friends and family calling you, and you're ignoring; At least remember you read about it here:)
I agree with you; I understand where you're coming from - These games aways remind me of that old BBS game: "Legend of the Red Dragon", had the same plot: KILL! KILL! KILL! You killed monsters and other players, all for the same reason as todays games (exp and loot). But I think your problem is, you're a TRUE roleplayer, not just your typical hack'n slash people.
Very well said, but I don't think consumers are spoiled by the developers with their BS graphics, It's more like they are blinded by it; they don't really know what a good game is anymore.
You're right in some ways, but I don't think it's because Linux (distros) are backwards. If the Distro's were copying windows, it would be a nightmare of crippleware, spyware, and any other idea they could dream up to scam your money away. Stuff like OpenOffice can out do Win Office because it's an on-going open source project. But how could you do something like that with things like games? None of the big corperations want to port their games over to Linux simply because there is no money in it for them and all their supporters (MS, Intel, etc), and that would be the only way to increase that side of entertainment. I find Linux Distros *much* more intersting than windows, and I have been with Linux for over 5 years now.
You just don't understand where they are coming from; Most of these news articles are posted to promote sales, not that anyone is really interested in it.
I enjoy mine; I got Adblock and No script which work very well, and I wouldn't browse without them- And I also have 1-click weather, Fasterfox, Mozex, and MR. Tech local install. I think Extensions play a major role in Firefox.
I've got two words for American Express, but I can't post them here because they aren't proper. I can sum up all the credit cards and institutions for you quickly, by saying they are NOT on your side.
this is my main reason for quitting ms windows (aside from I never liked Micro$oft) - I couldn't afford all the incredible rates and prices they were asking, and Pirating bothers me.
I agree with you; I also have thought of providing false info with domain reg, as I stupidly registered mine with real info, only to get screwed by all the spammers.
I guess my dad's life long policy for a solution to politicians, which is; "Put them all on a barge, tow it out to sea, and sink it!" - Can finally be handed down to me. My improved version of this policy would state;"Give them all a free tour of the astroids with the Japanese Nasa."
You're right; for starters, the users that would post negative would be the ones browsing the site because they had problems - Most users don't even look at the site if they are not having trouble. So, 22 is a small number compared to all the users.
Tell me about it! I think the most I ever spent on a video card was about 130.00 on a Voodoo 5 card at EB which I later found out, the company that made it, just sold out and quit (I got screwed).
Since then , I never spend over 60.00 and my last card was an MX4000 for 30.00 at computergate.
I agree with you - I still have My DC, not to mention my NES, SNES, Atari 2600, Genesis, Sega Master, PS1, TX16 - I quit spending on game systems with the DC; it was my last buy. I figured they all made enough money off of me.
Still play them all though:)

LoL! I found your news at your site the most intersting thing I have found in Slash Dot all week (all the bashing gets boring)!
Heres' the first thing that came to mind when I saw the third Pic; FRANKENSTEIN! You dug up all that dead hardware and gave it life!
Very cool!
I agree; this topic is senseless and a waste of time - windows is a far cry away from Linux im most anything.

M$ gets more than enough promo with out your help. And besides Sites like weather.com are dedicated and much better source for weather news and info.
I fully agree with you, But I don't thing Linux needs anything from Microsoft (no apps either).

I don't give a flying fluck what they are because I don't use Microsoft anyways.
The easy way out is to blame piracy - They do it when their video games suck, and now I guess they do it when they can't sell their crappy music.
I've got two words for American Express, but I can't post them here because they aren't proper.

Nice to see MS still doesn't own everyone
On the other hand; "Linux has sold more Linux software than Microsoft"
Microsoft does not "loose" money, they just would like you to think that.
I guess my dad's life long policy for a solution to politicians, which is; "Put them all on a barge, tow it out to sea, and sink it!" - Can finally be handed down to me. My improved version of this policy would state;"Give them all a free tour of the astroids with the Japanese Nasa."
Will you ever provide your online games to Linux community, or will you always remain with Microsoft?
