The undergraduate entrance exams for IIT is one of the toughest I've seen. Here is a sample. A typical question would be like.. Find all solutions for the equation 1! + 2! + 3! + 4!... + n! = n^2. The british paper wouldnt probably appear even in a high school exam in India because the problem is so typical, it would have been surely used in the textbook prose, and hence immediately disqualified from being used as a question in an exam.

In Gmail, you cannot see external images unless you explicitly specify by clicking a button. But I recently got an email from google recruiter who had the google image logo in his sig and it showed up in the email, even though the "display external images" flag was off..

Maybe its a bug.. maybe by "external images", they mean non-google hosted images, but I'd think that would be a little unfair..

How is it that India can see the light in all its raging stupidity (seriously... have you seen some of their movies?)

All this Bollywood bashing is kinda annoying. You need to take two things into account. First, 80% of hollywood movies are also populist crap. I'd think 99% of Bollywood movies are crap, but the gap is not due to lack of creativity. Bollywood directors dont have the luxury of making movies simply for art's sake. The movies HAVE to make money, period. Or you wont find producers/distributors for your next. If you really needa glimpse of all that Bollywood can be, you need to hunt for that 1% (there are quite a few, ask your indian friends)

Second, you need to understand that songs in bollywood movies is a cultural oddity, based on historical reasons. Its ok if you find it strange. I'm sure you find Toshiro Mifune loud acting in Rashomon strange too.. There no major independent music industry in India. Songs from movies are usually the only music around. Again, a lot of those songs are pure gems. One of the most talented composers from India, A R Rahman, is criminally ignored in the west.

I hate to break this to all mail client developers, but after using GMail, I doubt I'd ever be going back to anything else.

The main problem with have desktop mail clients is about spam. I access mail from 5 diff computers, so it takes 5 times as much effort to train the clients junk mail controls (since they dont share data). With gmail's central reporting, not only do optimize my spam settings, but I also benefit from other people's reporting.

All gmail needs is some sort of inbox monitor and I'd be all set.
