"This case is yet another reason why the rest of the world needs to band together to curb the lawlessness of the current US administration."

The most effective (actually the only) way to do this is by a worldwide boycott of all American products and brands. Yes that means not watching American movies, listening to american songs, not drinking coke or pepsi, not wearing nike or addidas even if you favorite soccer player or movie star tells you to.

More people protested George Bush then any figure in history. There were organized worldwide efforts where millions of people took to the streets. Did GW give a rat's ass? No he did not.

Do you know what would make him give a rat's ass? The CEO of nike calling him up and giving him the riot act because worldwide sales have fallen by 10% that's what.

GW does not care what the rest of the world thinks, hell he doesn't care what half of america thinks. He does care about his donors and he sure as hell will change his actions and words if he thinks the money flow into the republican party will slow down.

As a bonus if the boycott is successful you can cause lasting damage to the US economy which *might* cause them to spend a little less on military misadventures.

"We intend to defend our intellectual property". That's CEO speak for "yes we intend to sue".

Again you faith is MS is misplaced. It's not like they are an honest ethical company who always tries to do right thing.

It strikes me as ironic that the govt is fighting to put the ten commandments in schools and public places. I wonder what will happen to a generation of students who walk by a sign that says "thou shall not covet" every day. I wonder if it would make a difference in the consumer society?

Probably not, it's not like anybody really pays attention to that crap. If they did the streets would be empty on sunday.

Apple is introducing a new application in tiger. It's called automator (I was wrong about contructor). Automator is a RAD environment for applescript. Applescript in turn is an english like scripting language for the mac.

If apple provides hook into coreimage for applescript it will allow ordinary people to extraordinary things with images and video.

MS in turn is going to go the way of avalon and xaml.

So is avalon as good as or better then coreimage? Is it easier to use xaml or applescript (or python)? I don't think so.

If you have a small decentralized and poor army attacking hardened military targets would be useless execize. For terrorists it just makes sense to attack civillian economic targets. If anything it causes even more damage and of course increases the amount of terror. As a bonus it also forces undustry to implement extra security measures which increases their costs and erodes their competitiveness.

The idea is to weaken the entire country and hurt/scare the general population who will eventually give in. I say eventually because terrorists are usually thinking in timespans that take generations.

Whether it works or not is debatable. Terrorism was a key component of the establishment of Israel as a state. It also worked in Afghanistan against russia. In other places the record is spotty at best.
