the feds see a problem with a bundled ms OS browser, but ms aftermarket anti-virus software for an ms OS or two that attracts virus' and worms like stink on shit doesn't raise an eyebrow. perhaps i've had one too many beers to follow the logic chain.
i like the old deally better. and when i did the apt-get update;upgrade deally with my sid desktop i got this. i got distracted when my cups deally broke and had to reimplement lprng. cups is back up, and now this. i doan like this spacial concept. where do i turn it off?
it is free. free as in speech. it's free as in beer as well, but in my experience, if somebody offers me free beer, i end up having to work for it.
free beer linux just means you have to learn your distro's quirks (after i spose you poke your head over the *nix learning curve). i really like free beer, so i run debian/sid on my desktop. that's 200 bucks worth of free beer for me, my desktop box came with winme preinstalled. plus i don't have to buy and/or subscribe to virus dealies. whoa, i can spend more of my money on effin hardware. and i guess my old P-75 can still run win95, but can win95 act as my NAT/gateway? here's a hint, NO.
and when i come up with some code (not likely) that i can contribute, i'll gladly do it. not that anyone wants my inept rather wordy perl scripts that keeps my P-75 up and running when my dynamic IP changes. for us closet geeks, there is a fun variable that is missing in microsoft products.
if you are indeed ADD or ADHD (which it sounds like, but IANAMD) you won't develop any cocaine related dependencies (my anecdotal experience, YMMV) cuz why would you buy expensive "street" drugs just to feel normal? anyway, you have my $00.02.
i'm thinking the contraction of "should have" is "should've" and throwing in a short vowel between d and v makes it easier to pronounce. i fall into the worse habit of using "shoulda."
there's nothing like a good 'ole midwestern thunderstorm to put your head on straight. uh, those weather BS guys were predicticting this since five o'clock this afternoon.

People on TV usually do not have a BS in meteorology.
i beg to differ. tv weather people have substantial BS when it comes to weather.
i like debian cuz i get to choose. and the the more i learn about it, the more choices i seem to have. ok, the free speech part is cool, the free beer part is what got me hooked. i'm not religious about the debian systems i have installed, but jeeze they just work like their spose too. i can dual boot my desktop between debian/sid and winme. i boot into winme to use my scanner or to align my print heads after a cartridge change. guess where i figure the bloat is?
i am joe sixpack and i tend to like free beer. i am also an american, so i like free as in speech as well. win-win.
i gave win95, win98 and winme a chance. my experience was less than joyful. i'd rather deal with debian/sid (my current OS on my desktop) than winxp. i've used debian since slink.
i've gone from dial up to dsl and from one desktop box only; to my current AMD thunderbird 1 gig as my desktop (debian/sid witha rolled my own 2.6.6 kernel), my dinosaur P75 as my NAT/firewall/gateway deally (debian/woody witha 2.4.17 kernel)with an ocasional inclusion of my xbox (using the mechassault exploit)running xebian 1.0 on my teeny network. i can edit movies from my sony cam corder, burn cds, websurf, pretty much anything i can do with my hardware running mr.gate's blue screenOSs i can do with my penguins. cept fer my ancient mustek 1200IIIEP scanner, i still need windoze for that, but that's cuz i'm sorta cheap. my ancient HP855C printer works with linux, but to align the print heads after a cartidge change i need to run some windows crap.
oh yeah, no virus or worm worries or the cost of software to attend to the problem. i can spend more money on beer:-)
they didn't address my pc's OEM winme wormhole. not that i care, i'm running with scissors with my debian/sid OS on the same box. although sticking your tongue out and saying nya nya nya nah nah at the wealthiest man on the planet prolly doesn't amount to much...
no it doesn't, unless you consider cutting and soldering two cables together a hardware hack. the most effort i expended for the buffer overflow hack was locating a compatible usb flash stick.
it was trivial to network xebian into my NAT server and set up ssh. i need to read up on network media streaming though. and a nice NTSC friendly interface/desktop would be nice. jeeze, what do i want for free? and i still can attempt to beat my grandkids at spongebob saves bikini bottom (i am still ahead with 75 golden spatulas, but they're closing the gap fast!) and i'm still trying to beat GTA (the grandkids are not allowed to play this at my house), and halo2 is just around the corner...damn ADD...
so once i overcame the dreaded learning curve of running *nix (now debian/sid doesn't scare me too much, jeeze, i can roll my own kernel from source, currently my desktop is running 2.6.6), everything i learn is stuff i can use. it made more sense to me than to learn something i can use than to constantly reglaze windows. i have no virus or worm worries to speak of with my debian/sid OS. free speech is good, free beer is better as long as it's good quality.
KMCQ-FM operates at 100,000 watts, but would drop in power if it were to move to Covington. KMIH-FM operates at 30 watts.
The FCC decision also says that "there are alternate channels available" for both operations and that the areas already receive service from more than two dozen existing FM and AM stations.
so like, what's the school's problem? it's an effin high school. the school could go part 15 inna pinch. 30 watts, jeeze, my little ramsey fm10a issa microwatt transmitter. i cover better than a 1/4 mile radius with my "toy" transmitter (i yardcast, i can take the boombox out into the backyard and listen to a shoutcast or live365 stream or my mp3s or whatever else i care to pump out of my soundcard). why does a high school need 30 watts and/or need to cover more area than the campus?
no, it'sa really overly complicated method to boil water. the feds regulates it, which does little to make me less fearful. my experience doing roofing work (i had "unescorted access;" just meant i could open doors to get to different roofs) at a handful of IL com-ed run nukes leads me to believe upper management is in way over their pointy hair. the running gag at the dresden power plant is it's the only nuke that has step off pads in the parking lot.
the radiation aspect is a bit misleading, i prolly am exposed to more radiation standing at the home depot checkout line by the big piles of bagged salt than i ever was for the few months i worked at dresden.
Oh, sure, someone will get Linux to run on Longhorn PCs, but it will be just like trying to get Linux running on an Xbox. It can be done, but it's klugy and possible illegal and really not worth the hassle.
my xebian enabled xbox's only failing is that it's connected to the living room tv. an NTSC tv is a crappy monitor for a fifty-one year old myopic guy. but hey, my grandkids get an xbox game console and grandpa gets a network capable pc
that doesn't suck at multimedia display.
i own the effin hardware, splain how this setup is illegal. not much hassle either other than finding a compatible USB memory stick and a blockbuster rental of mechassault and some very crude soldering of wires on my part. maybe sorta kludgy-ish, but then you should see the perl scripts i have running on my firewall for examples of poster child kludge (written with the aid of an idiot manual). oh yeah, the xbox case was never opened.
phew, i thought i was in over my head on this one.

and deliberately pronouncing "should of"

then may be i'll look into buying their stuff.
yeah, like that's gonna ever happen....i am joe sixpack and i tend to like free beer. i am also an american, so i like free as in speech as well. win-win.

am i gonna need a kevlar blanket to drape over my damn box just in case a faulty disc explodes?

is their FCC skirmish. the name of the school paper is the "mercer high times."
