Well, not really, but my upload wants are pretty average - for instance I'd love to be able to upload the ton of pictures I took of the kids of the holidays at print quality resolution to my colo so the grandparents could download and print them, that kind of thing.
I guess that faster download speeds would be nice - it's the upstream speeds that I crave - I guess most home broadban users have a similar situation in that download speeds are great and upstream are more like 128k. I would be happy just to see that symmetrical, really.
I put a liitle circle in ma coffee up holder that I got for ma trs-80 and play recue at rigel on and charge tha local folk a dip o their moonshine or one of their raccon pups to play it. i got ma shotgun ready for that taxman tryin ta git ma moonshine for my trs80 game hoedown.
Indeed. Next thing you know they will be standardizing on back button icon's and agreeing on whether to say reload or refresh, and then we will know what the inside of the belly of a beast truly looks like.
seems like semi-recently that there were grumblings of the palm os moving over to a linux kernel in a future os release. something like speculation about them partnering with montavista?
I wish more desgin folks would take a cue from google's main search page at www.google.com and get the net back to a more simplicity/focus on content approach to delivering information. Interesting article - I believe the management really are smoking their own stuff, from what I've experienced from dealing with googles people. I just hope they don't get too spread thin and have trouble with upkeeping excellence with their various product. what is their slogan, anyway?
this reminds me - does anyone know how to obtain a copy of 'coderush' - that documentary about the initial mozilla source launch? there used to be a site for it but it seems to have been scrapped....
woohoo! i'll be beta testing 'carry my butt around in a brown paper bag 0.9' earlier in the week - maybe I can work this in before my appointment to beta test 'light my head on fire 0.2'.
how can 'they' have the data on conversion to comment on this? i kind of think that may be one of the reasons that google released the analytics deal - to get a bit more of a window on how advertisers goals and conversions are coming along versus ad spend. at a small software company i worked at previously the online ad spend was in the 10k-ish a month range, and using referrer info and urls specific to the online campaign they were able to see that the return on investment on that was great, justified every cent. the person in charge of that spent time on that every day, though, so it's not like you just throw some ads out there and expect it to just work.
AHA! BarryNorton must be in on it too - he just boosted the page rank food chain even further by reposting the links to the beatles-beatles submissions! O, insidious intrigue!!
I like this bill joy quote from the unix haters handboox: "Xerox PARC was a great environment because they had great people, enough money to build real systems, and management that protected them from management." This idea of a caste system at google sounds more to me like that, where nurturing development is the primary deal - giving developers a healthy environment and keeping irrelevant crap out of their hair. Seems smart to me. But caste system? I'd imagine that no one wants their benefits coordinator to feel like they aren't doing an important job - the marketing/sales initiative doesn't seem ignored to me, but they're pretty smart about leveraging the nature of the beast to no be too obtrusive about it. Clearly the management over the aren't a bunch of drooling morons, they're doing something right and the product that gets deployed is great....
so wonder what the tone was like. smarty pants contest? or 'here we are caring and sharing and collaborating! let's standardize on a little lock icon!'
Adsense text ads are just more pervasive because of a broader publishing network. I almost dread the pop up blocker functionality, it just made the approach for direct sell advertisers get that much more insidious, with splash ad pages and ads that fly around within the content of a page. That's alot more annoying to me than being able to just click out a window....
Speaking of things discworld did anyone think that Thud! is an indication that the discworld series needs to wrap up? It's the first one to come along that I've actually almost stopped reading. Don't get me wrong - I'm a big fan....
With 802.11 there is a pretty cool application called express that handmark software has out called express - if you've tried web browsing on a pda you know it's pretty painful. this app makes it a more friendly experience in the form factor, and provides news feeds, stocks, address lookups tied to a mapping feature, weather updates, etc.. cool thing is it caches client side so you don't have to maintain the connection - you can set it to auto update or whatever. i also have sms messages sent for service monitoring and have an ssh client that has saved my butt numerous times when away from my regular box.
i can't wait to see this after someone mirrors it or something. but i wish these kind folk had done one of the starter books, lords and ladies is definitely kind of into the series a little bit, although it pretty much doesn't matter with the discworld stuff. pratchett's about due for a new one seems like - going postal's been out a while now. been reading the bromeliad triology last few days, it's fun. what ever happened to gilliams good omens efforts?
and to think i was doing a search for todays seo optimization and the google api stuff and ended up at this article! those bots are fast! http://www.epicurean.com/
YMMV, but are you an average user?

don't really like 'Senate Fails To Reauthorize Patriot Act Provisions' would prefer Senate Succeeds in failing To Reauthorize Patriot Act Provisions'
according to scott mcnealy, that is.

Wow, didn't take them long to drum up a response to the yahoo konfabulator thing.
hooray for more google toys.

Anyone know if it's yellow dog or debian or etc.. or what?
someone mod that up, it was totally relevant for discworld readers.
