    That is a good point.

Also, the appeal of b&w picture (movie) is that there is no color to distract you from the form of the picture. There are some situations where black and white are incredibly powerful.

So, when are they going to get into real estate in which they build houses with tiny cameras at "right" places and with one more tab in the google.com "search your house". You can type anything in and they will look it up for you. GoogleHouse - it is search and indexing after all :P Just like browser is a part of the OS.

But, I am sure, GoogleHouse will be pretty :) I don't doubt it.

  4. Re:Acrobat Reader on Adobe Unveils Open Source Library · · Score: 1

I am guilty of posting a little off topic message here. But, as it's already into adobe reader, I might ask a question as well.

On windows the reader 6 is slow. Reader 7 is faster in comparison. (But, if you see the task manager they keep the reader running even when you close it, cheating - but I'll not go into that now)

The cooltype fonts in acrobat reader 6 has 2 stage setup that guides you to the setting that works best for your monitor. But, In Reader 7 there is just a checkbox to enable it, which does not work as well.

I believe cooltype is a type of anti aliasing. In my case I have a LCD with BGR alignment not the common RGB one, hence requires different AA than one would require for RGB monitors. Perhaps that is the reason even when I enable cooltype, the fonts of the text are fuzzy and barely readable at the regular size. But, I can adjust Reader 6 settings so that it appears right. Although 6 is way slower than 5 and 7, it renders text better, at least on an lcd.

I was wondering if there is a way to get a finer control over cooltype in Adobe Reader 7.

It's a bad practice to reply to my own post. But, many people seem to miss the sarcasm.

I do not think America would have been better off had it never been discovered. At least I don't see a lot of things to regret for. And I have a sense that after 500 years, people who will settle in Mars, will not regret either. Because, we have an extraordinary capacity to justify our actions - hard to say if that is a good thing or bad. The questions of ethics don't get aggressively examined - not nearly as in a way scientific persuits are carried out. And I guess one needs to do that before asserting if we should or should not.

One needs to think what are they after win of OSS or win of Linux? If it is the former, then you see OSS wins directly here, immediately as evolution is ported to windows. People can now use this incredible OSS app even if they use windows.

If you want only linux to win, even if at the expense of win of OSS then good luck to you - because, it is self destructive.

Just like an insightful slashdotter said upon the release of limited versin of windows, "you can't compete with linux by crippling your OS bill" I'd like to say, "you can't make the OSS win by preventing people from using it Mr. OSS Advocate".

Agreeing on a axiom is not *believing* it. It's agreeing. These are 2 different words and mean different things. They serve the purpose of communicating 2 different things.

A geometrical point is, well a point. It takes infinitely small space in each dimension and it has some other property. Do you really "believe" that a point "exists" in space measuring nothing in each dimension? Nope. It's made up, to make possible countless nifty use of our analytical faculty. You agree on the axioms so that can you do some other useful stuff based on them. Mostly they become self evident - mind you they are not always self evident as I can recall many instances in my study of calculus in school - because, inorder for them to be useful, they needs to be grounded in reality and when you look at them hard enough, long enough, they become evident.
