Well, I was saying that it's not a metaphor because it isn't like an observer changing the state of a system, it's actually an observer changing the state of a system. But, maybe you could say something like, "When Amy stared, she changed everything about him, like a bunch of Indians driving around with cell phones to detect traffic flow."
So decrypt it. What? You don't have the keys? Well, that's what you get for using closed source. I don't use Skype, but if I did I wouldn't worry about it. If you're that paranoid, maybe you should stick with GPL-3 software.
This is more like, "Oh, the government can get look op your name from your social security number. Don't worry, that's one of the reasons the social security number exists. Well, no, I can't say that the government hasn't used that information to also find my address and dispatch a highly trained team of assassins to brutally slay me, my family, everyone with a drop of my blood in their veins, and everyone I've ever loved or has loved me."
This is somewhat silly anyway. The Firefox plugins, OK, I don't know why they'd read that, maybe they're checking for a Skype plugin, but who cares? As for/etc/passwd, it's not/etc/shadow. Not only that, but they don't even have to write code that reads/etc/passwd. Try changing the "passwd: compat" line in/etc/nsswitch.conf to "passwd: nis" or something like that, chances are your read of/etc/passwd will go away. It's probably just doing something like getting your real name. Calm down and get some real evidence of wrongdoing like a packet capture of private information going out over the wire before you cry wolf.
Huh? Yech, I'm glad I don't work where you work. I'd say new and delete show up 0-5 times in an average project, generally buried way down in some RAII class. Either that or some jerk wrapped them around an API call that "won't ever fail." Fmeh. getpid() will fail if there's memory allocation within 8 lines.
Sure, we just have to be smart, tough, fit, always a shoulder to lean on but never need one, support our parents when they get old, our wives even after they divorce us, and show up to work and do our jobs every day because if we ever need assistance from the government, forget about it unless you figure out how to pass a kid through your prostate.
At some point you have to interpret tone, and Zonk has never posted anything positive about the PS3. Given that, and the fact that crowing usually is meant in a negative manner, you have to interpret the post as negative.
Also, I'm tired of hearing that the PS3 is overpriced. Is it expensive? Yes. Is it too expensive? For me, yes. Not that I couldn't have one now, but it's way more than I'm willing to pay. The thing is, it's not milk. It's not electricity. You don't need it, so if you're not willing to pay the money then don't pay it. Blu-ray was and still is a new technology, so yeah, it costs a lot. More than it's worth? Hell yes, early adopters are recouping Sony's development cost for them. Is it stupid to do it this way? I dunno. They had to get a product out to compete with Microsoft and Nintendo, so they couldn't spend more development time to make it cheaper, and if their system didn't knock the other two out of the park they were going to fail. Whether they're profitable or not tells whether it was a dumb move, but just because they're dumb doesn't mean they're evil. Whining about it like Sony's somehow screwing you over by either stealing $600 from you or heniously depriving you of a PS3 at the price you think you should pay is just annoying.
There's a headline for you. What, they're not supposed to be proud of their invention? A game wasn't unable to fit on a single DVD? If you're going to Sony bash, do it for something valid, like their rootkits, horrible customer service, or the way they managed to destroy Star Wars. Blu-Ray actually isn't bad, so when you gripe about it, it just makes your legitimate gripes look like more bellyaching.
Do you?
I have scar tissue in my brain from the number of fights occurring in my head over that one.
Shit, you're right. I got those switch around like a me, getting a simile and a metaphor mixed up on Slashdot.

I wouldn't say it's a metaphor.
0x06.

Just make sure to lock your guns up, since they're breaking into homes. Monkey see, monkey do.
Nested, -1 threshold. The only way to fly.
Hahaha beautiful.
Eeew, it's all oogy.
True that, I've had 66.218.71.198 memorized as my Internet connectivity test for 6-8 years now.
No! Don't fix bug 1777! That's the source of my (and everyone else's) super powers!
Damnit.

God damn it furry, go away.
If I had a chair like that I would never stand.
Ugh. This is masturbation. As in, it's uncomfortable to watch. Also, you spelled mystical wrong.
I've had the same feeling, briefly, drunk, and it was like being high. nobody wanted to be around me.

Whatever man, everyone's got it tough.
It's not like I care about compression when I'm dealing with 500kb image files.
OK, how about a 1GB file? (8 megapixel * 32 bits/CYMK)
Or how about 5,000 500KB images?
Don't forget that most pictures taken with digital cameras these days are full of noise, and generally crap.
Think "The Sims."
