I think it's a joke that Microsoft thinks that BitLocker will allow us to more easily decommission computers.
Right now we have to write the entire drive with zeros twice, then verify it. Or we can send them to be destroyed magnetically. There is no way that encryption will be considered good enough.
You think it's more likely that you'll need a gun to defend your self from the government than for "protection" from criminals?
Please expain, I'm curious why you feel that way.
Just remember that the M44s were sighted in with the bayonet extended. Many people report that the gun shoots to the side several inches if you leave it in the retracted state. Have fun and bring sunglasses for the muzzle blast!;)
The only problem is that when you enter the wrong PIN 3 times your card locks. With the normal login they can call to have it unlocked, or just wait to have it unlock itself. With these card they have to go to a PIN reset station. For some sites this means traveling 2-3 hours.
Hey! I just got my RC1 in the mail and RC2 is already out!?
BTW, did anyone else order the Beta 2 DVD and Microsoft sent you a RC1 disk even though you never ordered it?
Microsoft cares about features, Apple cares about implementation. That is obvious in their software, and I'm sure it will hold true for the Zune. Now I realize that many geeks share Microsoft's blind lust for a long feature list, but the general public wants something that works and is friendly to use. I expect that from Apple, but I'd be surprised to see the same in a Microsoft product.
When I was in High School I was given an Internet Exeptable Use Policy that I had to have my parents sign. The document, besides all the normal stuff, contained a section that said that I would not view inapropriate material in or out of school (thats not word for word, but thats what it boiled down to). My mother refused to sign it, and went to the head of the school board. In the end she crossed out the offending sentence and initialed it.
At the time I thought she was being crazy. I thought the text was just an oversight, but now I see it being used against students and I'm glad my mom did what she did.
HD - Couldn't care less.
Blu-Ray - ditto.
Harddrive standard - Good.
Online - About time, everyone else has it.
Wireless - Same as above, and only in the more expensive model.
Compatibility - Everyone else has this too.
All in all this seems like a system that you would only think is a good deal if you already have an HDTV, or plan to get one soon. And plan to get a Blu-Ray player. Even then it might be a bit of a stretch.
I thought that Nintendo's whole point with this new console was to do something completely different than it's competitiors so they can draw in a new crowd. Assuming that is the case they would want a name that is completely different than xbox, or playstation. They don't want it to sound like just another console. Wii catches your eye. It makes you stop and look at the product (something non-games might never do if they know it's a game console to begin with). And most importantly you won't forget it, or confuse it with the competitors product.
I say give Wee a chance!

No, I think that the Wii is the one console who's name they will not forget.

I don't know. I hated it at first, but after reading some of the defenses for the name it's kind of growing on me.
I do think it will kill most native MacOS gaming, or at least cause a major shake-up.
Are games going to start shipping with a free copy of Windows XP? If not I don't see how game manufacturers are going to assume that all the Mac users have Windows also.
Of course sales may drop and force the companies out of business. But the game developers aren't going to say "Well, you can now pay $300 to buy a copy of Windows to run on your Mac, so were going to stop making Mac games."
Steve Jobs never said that Intel processors were always better than G5s, just that they are now. And even more to the point, this is just after Intel released a whole new chip design that is even tempting AMD users over to the darkside. While your comment might seem to make sense on the surface, any amount of thought at all would show it to be unintelligent.
"Someone's head is going to roll over this one. The military has been really tight on network security lately, even with contractors. A hole as big as this is simply unacceptable."
Thats what I mean. If they don't already assume that anyone that wants to play thier game will have to buy a PC, why would they now assume that you would have to buy Windows and install it on your Mac?
And the hackers would have released hundreds of "Applications" for the iPhone that bricked it.
I'm not getting the iPhone because of it's price, but most of the "flaws" people point out are actually done on purpose.
***PROS
No 3G means it actually has decent battery life.
No native apps means you don't have to be scared to death of running a new app on your phone.
***CONS
Price
No user replaceable battery
Does it have a SIM card slot?
Guilty until proven innocent?

DOD has already told us not to install IE7 on ANY machines on the network.

That Mosin would knock that girl on her butt! And the steel butt plate would leave a nice bruise (I know it did on me).

My TV has 640*480 pixels resolution. Am I going to be able to tell the difference?

" 1 Million 360s a Month By Year's End"
Hmmm... A normal month only has 7200 360s in it, hows that going to work?
I wish there was a mod option for 'Blatantly Incorrect'.

Or because you like OSX but also have to run Windows applications?

No. They are going to say that you have to buy Windows and install it on your Mac? Why wouldn't they just say you have to buy a PC in the first place?
To each thier own...
But I for one am sick of the PS style controller, and welcome our Motion Sensitive controller overlords.
Or something.
