When I used it (Solaris 8) in college this year it seemed like the only difference was CDE (which, IMHO sucked) ans some command line utilities that just seemed like aliases to regular *nix utilities with switches. But we never got into the actual heart of the OS, so theres probably alot more to it.
What I heard a while back (but haven't heard any more about since) was that nintendo was working on a controller with gyros in it that could sense when you tilt the controller and use that action for game input.
Thats like saying "When you can get a compact car for $12,000 how can I convince my wife I should buy a $30,000 SUV or sedan?". A PC and a Mac are two totally different things, you can't compare them directly. You have to judge what best fits you needs. If you are only trying to get yourself to work, maybe a cheap compact car is a good idea, if you have a big family to cart around you should probably look at plunking down the extra dough for the SUV or sedan.
Have you ever read any of the Netforce books? In them people connect to their computers and the Internet through a neural interface. Their computing environment is like the real world. Your "desktop" could be a castle on the Irish coast, your icons would be actual objects in the castle. Websites are like different worlds. Seeing the beginnings of the technology that could make this happen is really cool.
What I think would be cool is if this were used as a new form of computer input. No more typing or navigating using a mouse. Just think what you want to type, what program you want to open. Eventually computers are going to be so powerfull it's going to seem ridiculous to have such a limited input as a 2-dimensional navigation input (mouse) and carpel tunnel inducing keyboards. Direct control from the brain would be an ideal input. Next they need to find a way to beam the computer's output directly to the brain to complete the interface. Lookout Matrix, here we come.
Yup, 70 hour battery life. Assuming of course that you have the volume all the way down and all your music is encoded at 2kbps. But thats how everyone listens to their mp3 player right?
I don't know of any online music stores that sell mp3s. So let the prices rise as high as they want them. When they start raising the prices on Protected WMA and Protected AAC I'll start to care.
"...if they are made aware that their service can be used to access material that they have reasonable grounds to believe is child pornography or child abuse material and they do not refer details of that material to the AFP within a reasonable time."
Because that says "their service CAN be used...", that includes any ISP. If it said their service IS BEING used, then you would be correct.
Your exactly right. There is nothing in the universe except what we know. Anything outside of that is just not true. Damn paranormal stories... it's almost like some people don't realize that we already know everything.
This just in... doing anything besides driving, while driving, causes bad driving.
If we ban the use of cell phones while driving, we also have to ban radios and cd players, eating or drinking, and talking to other people in the car.
I think my girlfriend's iPod mini sounds great, but then again I'm used to $20 headphones. If you are obsessed with hearing every little nuance in your music then maybe the iPod is lacking, but I wouldn't notice the difference.
Unless you've actually watched the movie and know that the robots might decide that the best thing to do is herd us all up so we can't "hurt" ourselves.
I don't think it's going to be white. It looks like it will have designs printed on it. http://www.ourcolony.net/images/logos/37943.jpg
Nope, only four. Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy. There are two other characters that join in later books, maybe thats what your thinking of.

Err... Sun Solaris I mean, of course...
Well, I for one am waiting patiently. BTW, what am I waiting for? What are the advantages of SUN over Linux?
Even your title is flamebait. Grow up.

"Only thing worth anything is the CD-Key, and that's good for only one use." Then Blizzard's EULA should reflect that.

DirectX9 - For more than just gamers? Since it's in the games section of slashdot, I guess not.
I haven't used it myself, so I could only speculate.

The RCA adapter from apple is $19. Doesn't really break the bank.

When you say that OS X doesn't do this, are you taking into consideration Core Image that's coming in Tiger this year?
