    Its true BUT Dont Panic.
    The thing is its used only in the new personal entertainment systems you see on new long distance flights which show movies on demand and have interactive games. Its has nothing to do with the navigational/operational software of the plane. In fact all planes have two totally different designed systems of ALL crital systems and if the systems disagree, the computer just trasfers control over to the pilot (it hasn't happened on any commercial flight as far as I know). The point is no one is dumb enough to use Windows (or any other general purpose OS) on critcal systems (or at least I hope so)

    While Windows 2000 is adequate for my home computer to surf the web and read email (after proper precautions are taken) it is absolutely NOT adequate for flying an airplane. I am not worried about worms and viruses infected an airplane running Windows 2000 (and I'm not sure why it was mentioned in the article as it really isn't related) but I am worried about the stability of the OS and the implications it may have.

    Civilization is my favorite strategy game and I still like to play Civ 3 fo rlong periods of time. My wishlist for Civ 4:
    1)Good multiplayer
    2)More diplomacy and humor

    Ican't just think of any other way they could improve an already fantastic game. (apart from of course putting in super fancy graphice so that I will have to skip food for a month and get a new graphics card)

    Well its been going on for a long long time on the Sun and also a number of times on dear old earth. Maybe you live in some sort of a blackhole and due to the time-space-computers warp and hence cant see the fusio.

    Of course releasing Duke Nukem is just too difficult to be listed.

    And so is using M$ Windows for an entire week without burning, smashing or inflicting permanent damge on your computer (without using Cygwin of course). Obviously the last challenge is even more ridiculous, I mean yeah its not going to crash for an entire week (I believe in Santa too)

    Have you been inside of a Walmart? The majority of their products ARE made in 3rd world countries. The largest is Indonesia and China. Its getting harder and harder to find anything Made in the USA.

    Well that applies to most shops now. I did some shopping from Gap and every single item was made outside the USA

    If u are used to vi and need to use a windoze machine, u have to try out the vim port for windows ( www.vim.org) ... too lazy to make it a clicky link. Its free , open source and clean ( and its not emacs )

    Well not to start a flame war but if u did not know it KDE too has a systemwide setting of 'what to do if a link is clicked on' and it works perfectly on my Suse machine with TB and FF . And how can one 'barely' have a setting, is it like it uses the set application only 10% of the time .

    Apple survives on getting people to pay very high prices for cool looking products. Once Apple gets people buying iPods, it would only make sense that those same sheeps would also start buying overpriced but pretty Macs.

    And it's also mis-spelt u either meant sheep or ships , I guess. And u could appply the overpriced argument to iPods too, and iPod is more expensive than other similar capacity players. So its not like Apple is giving out iPods free to tempt PC users to switch (though that would be cool).
    I myself have started liking macs after I bought my iPod (though I havn't bought one yet), I think u start appreciating the effort Apple puts in their UI design once u use any of their products.

    Without question Pixar can do fine on their own without Disney's help distributing. The real question is, can Disney survive without Pixar? As my magic-8 ball says, "Outlook not so good."

    I agree use Thunderbird (...well I fell for ur bait) . But dont be too sure abt Disney's Doom, look at M$ for example, money is a huge factor and Disney does have loads of it.

    I have a 'e' icon and internet explorer on my Debian desktop. \ducks and runs for cover\
    Well I couldnt help it, I had to install Office XP so I bought crossover office ( rebooting every time I need to use powerpoint is irritating .. and before u start abt Openoffffice.. I dont like Powerpoint, i have to use it for some presentations and I need some equations so I use TexPoint which lets me use Latex in powerpoint). Anyway so Office Xp auto installs IE and an IE icon on my KDE desktop looked so funny that I decided to keep the icon.

    Lucky for me I have the IE icon, now that it has been proved (by the MS spokesperson) that IE is more secure
