Who has unlimited data with tethering in the US for $15 a month? Or is it $15 a month on top of your $70 unlimited talk and text? I pay $100 for three lines, one being an iPhone. I have wifi at work and home, my largest data month in the last 3 years was 180Megs. I will happily take my %15 discount to go to the 200M plan.

The big BUT is that you can't watch online when ANY other game is playing, which means no football til after midnight EST on Sunday and then blocked again for Mon night game. I got it this year but couldn't keep free of enough news/facebook updates/etc to watch it the next day.

  20. Re:Electric Gas Cans? on Plug-in Hybrids May Not Go Mainstream, Toyota Says · · Score: 1

Depends where you live. The listings simply need to be updated to include a miles/kWh. Then you can calculate. I live in Hawaii which has the highest electric in he country (I think) right now at almost 38 cents a kWh. Gas is running right about $4.00 a gallon at Costco. For easy math lets say a Prius gets 50 miles to the gallon and 3 miles to the kWh(I saw this number on a conversion website, I'm guessing it's generous). Your dollar per mile on gas is 4/50 = .08, on electric it .38/3= .13 . So while I understand that electric is much cheaper on the mainland (I think I was paying 18 cents a kWh in the northeast, which makes it .06 dollars/mile) you can see that plug in cars don't offer you that much in savings over a gas, and depending where you live may cost more. All these articles seem to think power is free. Maybe someday it will be all solar and wind at 5 cents a kWh, but I doubt it.

You can have degraded digital, in fact Sirius and XM do this right now. It's a bit complicated but the basic idea is similar to a progressive JPEG image that loads in low frequency data, then updates with higher frequency data. Giving you a fuzzy picture that gets more clear after each refresh. The way they do this with audio is spreading out the signal over time. If you have or know someone with XM give this a try, turn on the radio from power off and listen very closely. Likely over the first 4 seconds you'll notice the sound quality increase. You can also place a metal sheet over the antenna to play with this.
There are some tricks here, I'm sure it's described better somewhere on the web.
