  1. What does it mean for linux ports? on GameSpy Attempting to Dump Mac Gamers · · Score: 1, Offtopic

I like playing Neverwinter Nights on Linux, and, given that Atari now supports Linux on two of its blockbuster games (UT2004 and NWN), I would say it will continue without problems, given that, from what I have seen, GameSpy is just a server locater in NWN, and the actual server has been ported to linux. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but would it not be easier to port from Windows->Linux x86 than from Windows->Mac, because it's on the same platform? Well, anyway, I really don't care about Macs because, even most Mac users admit that Macs are bad for games, and they use them for multimedia. But I do care about linux, because games are the one thing standing between linux and wider acceptance IMHO, and it would be a shame to lose games and developers that we already have on our side.

Also, I have above average computer skills, and fast (70WPM) typing. Also, my game of choice, MS Flight Simulator 2004 (it's microsoft, but it doesn't have much competition), is helping me toward my future career being a pilot (my instructor said I aced an ILS approach, with full fog, on my first go on the training sim). So, where does that leave this article? Computers give people more ways to jack off and procrastinate? Duh. Does that make us more stupid? No, it merely shows the stupidity that is already there.

But please, linux distros are not the same as BSD "flavours", because they are built on the same kernel, and can run the same code *with no modification*. The underlying system is the same, but the userland tools are different. Please stop just coming up with reasons why your beloved BSD is better than my beloved linux; I can accept that BSD is better for some things, however I would like you people to acknowledge that linux isn't just a piece of crap trying to destroy the BSDs.

I think many children wish they could live to see the ripe old age this man has attained. Also: here is a fact of life: people die!!! If you haven't figured out that man is a mortal creature, it behooves you to do so. Given that approximately 30,000 children die in Africa every day from hunger (not to mention other things), I think it is safe to say that if this man does or doesn't die won't make a huge difference on humanity. We seriously have to stop taking Linux so seriously. If you knew the guy, and has some sort of relationship with him, that's one thing.
