Try to buy a Playstation 2. Now try to buy an original XBox. Which one do you have to go to eBay for? Already own both. At least my xbox can still read DVD's.
Next, buy a Playstation 3. Buy an Xbox 360. Try to install Linux on both. Because of course, the ultimate concern for anyone buying a GAME CONSOLE is if it runs linux. Personally, I bought neither.

Yeah, because Sony treats their consumers MUCH better than MS does, right?
"While filtering and monitoring technologies help parents to screen out offensive content and to monitor their child's online activities, the use of these technologies is far from universal and may not be fool-proof in keeping kids away from adult material," Sen. Inouye said. "In that context, we must evaluate our current efforts to combat child pornography and consider what further measures may be needed to stop the spread of such illegal material over high-speed broadband connections."
Apparently, there is a totally new definition of 'child pornography' that I'm not aware of. Or this senator is an idiot.
Yeah, but what about when the characters are both engaged in the same firefight with a couple dozen Covenant? Or how about with a swarm of Flood? That is a LOT of enemy data to sync up, and a Xbox has to host it all.
Rememberm in a multiplayer game, one Xbox has to send data on 4 players AT MOST. The Host Xbox has to relay info on 16 players, at most. If you've ever played any BTB games, you know that latency can throw those games off significantly.
This is Bungie. If it were easy to impliment, it would be in the game. You can count on that.
Bungie has been trying to implement this feature since Halo 2. It was actually in development, but they simply couldn't get it working at an acceptable level. I remember one of the major hurdles was enemy AI getting out of sync between the two players.
I'd recommend it. I lost a lot of enthusiasm for FF games after X. I finally picked up XII and feel it's a much better title. The gambit system is especially cool, as you basically get to program your party's AI.
As a front-line ISP tech support dick, I would be suprised if I got more than 1 call from a Mac user in a month. Mebbe there are more of them, but they don't have to call tech support as often.
By the way, they use the 'It's a Windows related issue, call your OEM/Microsoft.' just as often, trust me.
You know, if you simply used the software provided with the iPod, I bet you wouldn't have had so many problems. (Havn't run it under Vista though, so just an assumption) You know, the software that lets you import music files or rip directly from CD, then synch with the iPod. (All without any DRM)
But Apple sucks. They need to make sure their devices work with POS software that random people put on the internet, right?
WoW is light on the graphics and heavy on CPU/Memory. Which fits really well with the hardware you find in a MacBook. Other games are not nearly as forgiving on the graphics chip.
MS has a history of eliminating competitors with rapid release cycles. Not just stay ahead of them, eliminate them. The fact that the 360 has been out longer means that if they push the next generation, it won't feel as rushed to 360 owners as it will seem to Wii/PS3 owners. If priced competitively, it will easily sway the PS3 fence-sitters to the new 'next-gen', further eroding Sony's userbase.
You're right, Sony is scrambling. But it could be much worse for them. They have banked a lot on the PS3 uber-console, and I'm sure they expected to be able to sit and recoup development costs for 4-5 years. If MS pushes the generation, Sony is faced with a no-win situation: Abandon the PS3 early, eat the costs, and incur the wrath of the dedicated customers who bought it, or stick with the gameplan and lose business to whatever MS pumps out. Ugly either way.
The next generation may see Sony dropping out of the market. There will be a PS4, but it's success is far from guaranteed.
If anyone is going to make another market push, it will be MS again. Their system has been out the longest, they have the cash for it, and it's worked for them in the past. Sony hopes to get what, 8 years out of the PS3? A 'next-gen' Xbox priced competitively with the PS3 released in the next 2-3 years would leave Sony scrambling.
Nintendo is in a really good position to roll with that scenario by simply stepping up the horsepower of the Wii to 'current gen' levels and selling it for $250-300.
People identify with simplistic images more than complex images. This has to do with perception. We percieve others in full detail, but only have a simplistic perception of ourselves. Because a simple character matches how we view ourselves, we are more likely to assume the role of the simplistic character. While more realistic characters are considered 'other people' and don't generate the same connection.
Scott McCloud explained it alot better in 'Understanding Comics'

I'm inclined to go with the second option.
If you can't/don't want to play Marathon, you can read the transcripts from the game at http://marathon.bungie.org/story/
There is a LOT of commentary there too.

Yes, because the levels in CS are the same size as those in Halo/Halo2 and in CS you have just as many NPC's with complex AI to synch over network.
Thank you for making that distinction. The ESRB doesn't ban games. retailers and console manufacturers do. (In the US at least)

It stopped 'wiping foreign players' a couple revisions back. Now, it synchs from iPod to PC.
There are rumors of a significant .Mac revamp in the future.
It doesn't leak, it Squirts. And it's a feature!

Yes. But around these parts we call it 'archiving data'.
Considering how much of industry is focused on analyzing, moving, utilizing, and protecting information, it would be logical.

...not much of a stretch. I would be inclined to disagree...If anyone is going to make another market push, it will be MS again. Personally, I'm looking forward to the Nintendonut.
No lie. I learned a LOT about excel while playing Eve.

But does it have a HHDDVVDVBVD player? Personally, I'm waiting for the Nintendonut.
