It's not like PvP in WoW isn't incredibly carebear in the first place. Where is the consequence of death? "OMG DURABILITY LOSS WTFPWNDBBQ!!1!eleven" Oh wait, you don't get durability loss in PvP. You don't lose XP. You don't drop items. There is absolutely no consequence at all.

I wonder how cocky you would be if your body could be cleaned of all it's "phat lewt" upon death. Howabout a XP loss? Or even better, Permadeath.

Face it, WoW is a carebear game no matter what server type you play. You're just in denial.

Eve is a great game as well, but it has it's own issues. It's HEAVY reliance on player driven content is a problem. It sucks to log on and have NOTHING to do, because there's noone around to fight, or so many that undocking would be suicide. The PvE content is very basic, altho it's better now than it used to be. (Complexes can be alot of fun) Group PvE is very basic, with no real fleet tactics. PvP is fun, but usually ends up with two fleets sitting on either side of the gate with noone engaging. Alliance politics gets REALLY annoying. Manufacture and trade on a high level is a logistic nightmare.

I've played the game since release, and have tried all of these things. (Was a member of Curse Alliance for 99% of it's lifespan) I've run a production corp in excess of 75 active members, and we even tried to get a jump on the component manufacture market when starbases were released.

Took a break, and now I play WoW. Simplicity has it's advantages.

However my Eve characters are still active and training, and my main passed the 20mil Skillpoint mark last week. Battleship 5 doesn't seem so far off...

I've Beta'ed Guild Wars, and currently play WoW. Both are great games in completely different ways.

WoW is stronger in the traditional MMO/PvE content. Especially once they flesh out the end-game a bit more. Hardcore dungeon crawls, raids, etc. Guild Wars has none of this. (PvE is on a much smaller scale in GW)

Guild Wars really shines on the PvP front. The entire purpose of the PvE segment is simply to get you up to speed to PvP. Most of a characters development isn't vertical, it's horizontal. (Quick run to 20, then spend time fleshing out your arsenal of abilities) And the skill system leads to plenty of variety and strategy in combat.

Honestly, comparing the two doesn't make sense. They're different types of games, with different goals.

I wasn't expecting blowout sales on the PSP on day one because of it's real target market. $250 for a handheld is a bit expensive, and people will hesitate to buy the thing. Plus, it's aimed at an older group than Nintendo's handhelds. People less prone to impulse buying. I'll more than likely own a PSP by the end of the week after seeing the one a co-worker bought, and I'm sure many other potential customers will be the same way.

There is NO end game for WOW except PvP and Battlegrounds. New game or not they should have had enough in place to satisfy the players. Instead they released before they were done, again a common theme, and have decided to let the players sit and spin until they get the updates out.
Unlike most MMO's, WoW actually has content before the endgame, and it has a heckuva lot of it. The only reason I play WoW is because the game starts at 1, not 60. Remember, it's relatively easy to add content to the end game. It's much harder to fill in the middle. Dire Maul should keep people busy for a few weeks before it's maxed out, and there is still existing endgame content that hasn't been done. (Ragnaros?)

Agreed. There is still endgame content to do. (especially with the addition or Dire Maul) Plus, WoW seems to have a LOT more content from 1-60 compared to other MMO's. IMO a smart move on their part. Yeah, there's less endgame content. However, you can easily add stuff to the endgame, while fleshing out the early portions would be much more complicated.

Businesses are not here as a charity to you. They try and make money. It doesn't matter how many billions of dollars Microsoft has made on windows/Halo/Halo2 sales. They are not expected to give stuff away for free because they've been successful.

Again, if you don't like it, don't give them your money. You have the ultimate power as a consumer to decide where your money goes.

Honestly, I would expect it to be EASIER to provide access to older/more obscure albums with an online distrobution scheme. It's not like you have to start pressing more discs. There is the initial cost to get the master recordings digitized and encoded, but once thats done there are no further distribution costs. (Besides bandwidth)

It's hard to justify re-releasing an album if only a couple thousand people will buy it. Making it available for free download is much more viable.

Plus, where is the downside to releasing out of print albums online for paid download? There are no physical sales. I'm sure the labels have TONS of stuff in their archives that people would kill to have access to.

NWN is a great game, and a great toolset. BUT, (you saw it coming) it simply way too restrictive compared to PnP roleplaying.

Some of the most memorable moments from roleplaying were because of the creativity of the players and GM. Especially on-the-fly. In NWN you are restricted by the module and the system. In PnP you're restricted by imagination and GM discretion.

If players are fighting over rules, something has gone wrong with the players/GM.

I don't see a computer program giving as much flexibility as PnP anytime in the near future. It simply bogs things down.
