    Well, even if the rumor was true, I don't think he would publicly say anything, if only to protect what is left of OLPC. If he did say anything, people would just call him selfish and uncaring for the children he wanted to help.

    Well I don't share your dislike for China, actually kinda like the country as a whole, and don't dislike their government any more than the government of the USA, but i digress. That Novel and Microsoft is involved, and that someone even thought to place a hyphen between the two is far more telling.

    I load MS Office on a foreign computer every now and then, but haven't noticed it that much snappier than OO.org? How much faster is it? relatively speaking.

    It also has the great effect of making a person feel like they are paying X for MS-Office instead of the usual Y (X Y). And so reduces the apparent need for cheaper software. But I believe people have the right to pay for expensive software.

    You currently pay $300 for the standard Microsoft Office 2007.

    No I don't. Maybe if it has something that I need I would, but it doesn't so I don't.

    A discussion about RPM and DEB, and suprise suprise, you mention Apt but not yum. Here's a tip: `yum localinstall RpmIManuallyDloaded.rpm`. The size pool of apps have little to do with RPM v. DEB as far as I know.
