TFA points out that people congregate with laptops at hotspots. This is true. Thiefs know they can find one or many at such a place.
This sounds like a Discovery Channel documenatary on the lion and the gazelle. "The lion knows they can find one or many gazelle at a watering hole", except replace lion with thiefs, gazelles with laptops, and watering hole with "wifi hotspot". Unless perhaps you're talking about wifi in a crummy bottled watter cafe, then i guess watering hole is an ok description.
On OS X you only need one mouse button, you can access context sensitive menus by ctrl+clicking or holding down the mouse button. It also supports scrolling (put two fingers on the trackpad, move in the direction you want to scroll).
How often to you right click with your trackpad? I usually just use it to tap things, its too awkward to right click using the button. If you want hardware developed for Windows, buy a Dell. If you want hardware developed for MacOS, buy a Mac. Its not that hard to understand.
You need to check your facts. I was quite useful in small doses, and it was fatal in large doses. We must assume that it was "LidoClub."
this man is clearly under the influence of modern drugs! with NovaClub, you dont get any of these "side effects" such as posting incoherently on slashdot, just a minor headache!
Please note, NovaClub may cause constipation, diarrhea, dizziness, drowsiness, increased sweating, loss of appetite, nausea. Do not increase dose on your own; do not stop abruptly unless advised to do so by your doctor; do not drive or operate heavy machinery until you know how your body reacts to this drug.
See, if they would have added MP3 and Mac Support 3 years ago I wouldn't have replaced my minidisc with an iPod.
The reason i dumped it (besides the hardware which eventually died) was because the ONLY way to get software on it was through the buggy Windows-only Sony Software that came with it.
Sorry Sony, even if you do fix the problems with it, you're way too late. I got a taste of the high capacity iPod with the extremely easy to use iTunes software and i'm never going back. Good luck with the whole rootkit things though.
This is one of the problems with Sony, they're in too many businesses. Their Music division has longed forced them to cripple their electronics division, or be exclusive to their record label. When one arm of your company is installing rootkits on your computer to prevent you from ripping CDs to mp3, would you really trust that same company with your mp3 device? I don't.
It is not so much the two being installed on the system, but most I've seen run all the time in the background scanning files. Two programs scanning files you are opening ("On Access" protection!)for teh virus!!!1! is a Bad Idea.
But with the new Intel Core Duo, you could do that easily!
Seems nobody can capitalize COBOL correctly anyway. Morons.
I think CoBoL Programmers are so sad because people cant capitalize their title properly.

Quake3 UB runs slower on my MacBook Pro than on my old DELL notebook.
Wow, a version of quake3 made by enthusiasts for OS X86 a month ago runs slower than a version designed by ID for the Windows platform? Shock and AWE. It must be because OS X is SLOW!!
Mainly ISP marketing/competition, its much more impressive to offer an 8 megabit connection instead of a 1 megabyte connection... Joe User would pick 3Mb over 1MB because 3>1, even though the 1MB connection would be much faster.
"That being said, Microsoft have a long track record for making bad products - IE still uses Opera's old braindead popup blocking method. Heck, DRM had me sold before I heard any other features."
This is false, both Internet Explorer (6.0SP2+ of course) and Opera only block popups that are spawned when the page is loading. Opera does have an option, block *ALL* popups, but it is turned to block *UNREQUESTED* popups by default. I've found that Opera's popup blocking is better out of the box, but with a combination of adblock plus and Firefox's popup blocking (or more recently, Opera 9 with content blocker blocking flash ads) that you'll never see any popups.
Anyone remember this from like a year ago? I've switched from Windows to Linux, and I use Evolution just for its calendar feature (I've been using Gmail for my email with Firefox for at least a year now). It's great how it integrates with GNOME's calendar and shows appointments and the like.
Lightning? Hopefully it is useful to get people to switch away from Outlook, but its the lack of Exchange support that matters to most people, Hopefully that gets added soon!
on second thought, I take back my post. "Silicon Heaven" is actually some freaky porn shop I saw on the way to work yesterday.
What do you mean, there's no silicon heaven?
I think you are referring to the hit movie, All Intels Go To Silicon Heaven?

i'm sure that they are not called as 'dentists'.
what are you, an anti-dentite?
I dont think I want to know what kind of anesthesia they would have used then...
they didn't use novocaine, they used NovoClub
NovoClub: Only one swing and the pain goes away!
How are you comparing frivilous lawsuits like the 'heriarchical displays' or 'Apple + music' compared to suing someone for breaking an NDA?
If they couldn't sue, the NDAs would be useless, it would be much harder to keep secrets!
Think of the chil...er seekrit Mactels!
Anyone know when it will be out of beta?
*ducks*
Complaining about advertising and then he pastes advertising at the end of his post. Typical of 2006 astroturfers.

This wouldn't have even been considered funny or good 15 fucking years ago.
are you insinuating that things were funnier in the early 90s than they are today?
Oh man! The 18th Century would find your joke HIGH-LARIOUS!!!1
"Fred, that hasn't been funny since the 1st century!!!"
The PONIES ARE PART OF GNU/LINUX!!!!! Slashdot.org or their hosting provider must have installed PonyPony2 on their server!!!
Look at the coders? SEE they have PONY tails!? Just like ponies!
YOU must have installed it on your server! Your empty threats about the FBI to people who are trying to help you will not be tolerated!

I've installed KDE on Ubuntu, I'm typing from it right now. that is from dmesg on this ubuntu box.
YOU CANT DO THAT ON TELEVISION!!!!
you're thinking of a eu*nix
thats what ubuntu is
What about kde, which does the exact same thing but tied to the mouse cursor?
"that it does in the background isn't helping me check my email, instant message or ssh to remote boxes."
Call me crazy, but I dont think everything linux does is helping you do those things either:
[4294669.546000] Checking for popad bug... OK.
POPAD BUG? WTF THAT IS NOT EMAIL/BROWSING/IM/SSH!!!! STOP WASTING MY MEGAHURTSZ!!!
Did you just compare Michael Dell to Steve Jobs?
Here's a hint: one wears a turtleneck and makes innovative computer products, the other one is Michael Dell.
Next Time on Slashdot: "Linus Torvalds (Linux's Bill Gates) tells people to use KDE!!!"

Yes, here are the instructions for using with Adblock plus.
Honk if you love Jes....er.... Worst. Idea. Ever.
