    Digital forensics is performed offline. You don't run the browser software to read its history.
    You don't. But you would want to use a copy of it's source to do that.

    The comparison is between things some people already enjoy and things some others might enjoy in the future.

    My conclusion is that most people don't really know what is going on with graphics in Linux. It's understandable that people don't see the whole picture. Graphics is a large and complex area with many software components and competing developer groups.
    But it really should be like.. at most 3 indirections:

    the toolkit --> the X server --> and the driver/hw!!
    When I saw this (App->gtk+->Cairo->XRender->Xgl ->GLX(X)->GL->hw) it blew my mind..

    ...now just lemme read that X server RFC...

    This is a decentralised file-sharing network, where files are not stored on a central server..

    The most widely used ed2k server software is Lugdunum, although MLDonkey provides an open source alternative...(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/eDonke y_Network)

    Doesn't seems more decentralised than bittorrent to me..

    The transparent coating can be applied to eyeglasses, camera lenses, ski goggles ... even bathroom mirrors, they say

    It seems clear to me that this thingie is applied on existing surfaces.
    Therefore applied on glass.
    Now can one explain, if the glass allows X% of light to pass, how can this "coating" amplify it to X+?

    And no, I'm not trolling.

    Coated glass appears clearer and allows more light to pass through than untreated glass while maintaining the same smooth texture
    Who do they think they're foolin'?
    More light than comes from through the glass??

    Yes and no.

    Imagine "Verizon and T-Mobile" using hard-wired-identified cellphones, and the upstart service provider using SIMs with any SIM-compliant cellphone.
    All users of the upstart service can choose their telephone (IM client) while old provider clients would be stuck to 5-10 models (one, in the IM case).
    The only way the old providers would attract more users is by having special features not found on other phones.

    Y! has audibles for example
    Skype has good voice capability and the ability to actually call somebody on the phone
    MSN has.. well.. it will have something..
    etc.

    Choosing to use one of the proprietary clients would enable you to use their features.
    Choosing alternatives (such as any Jabber client) would enable you to use the client of choice.
    ...
    I haven't said Google would directly force somebody.. clients will.

    (remember, if and only if they open their jabber server!)

    Imagine if google would open it's talk.google.com for server-to-server communication with other jabbers around.

    Y! opens a jabber2yahoo bridge
    MSN opens a jabber2msn bridge
    AOL opens a jabber2aol bridge
    ..
    Everybody would be happy, except for Y!, MSN and AOL.

    Happend before, with Inbox size!

    And they could keep their voice algorithms for their use, a hell with them! for a couple of years, until it becomes a standard feature, I can agree with that.
    Then they should open this too:D

    first of all: Man pages can be easily found for what you'd wish to do, by using apropos

    second: man pages are reference pages, mostly. Read a tutorial and you will understand, consult a man page an you will recall.

    (bashing): consider posting on slashdot would be object-oriented. write three class inheritances that would eventually instantiate in three post lines. write a wrapper class that handles the concatenation and outsource the type of concatenation to an interface that the reader is left to choose...(/bashing)

    Am I the only one that uses FAT exactly because it is old and documented, therefore compatible with many other OSes?
    MS shoud just give the specs to NTFS and FAT will surely die in 1 month!!

    "Power" is the measure of energy per time unit ( that is, P = E/t ).
    The heat dissipation is directly proportional (by a material-specific constant) with that energy (E), which is
    E = P*t = V*I*t = V^2*t/R
    As mentioned before, the heat dissipation wont' drop because the resistence is lower, but because that lower resistance allows a similar drop in voltage, and E depends on the square of V
