It would be subject to Mexican law, and there are a number of fishing collectives off Baja that patrol the area.

GDS keeps track of your Internet history, so you can actually search (and view) the cached contents (from multiple dates) of the sites you've visited with Firefox or IE. I only use GDS for this function, as I'm organized enough to know where I've put specific files on my HD. I don't use AIM or email much either. It also only searches the first 5000 words of a textfile, so it's useless for my IRC logs as well.

Google Search history keeps track of which pages you've visited through Google, but Google Desktop Search keeps track of every page you visit.

As a sidenote, I discovered that GDS merely takes a system screenshot to generate its website thumbnails.

  15. I'm ambivalent on the subject of rebates... on FTC Tells CompUSA to Pay Up QPS Rebates · · Score: 1

I agree with the parent. I've gotten about $900 in rebates since 2001, out of $2000 spent. That's 45% cash back (though I would estimate the actual savings to be around 20 to 30 percent, given inflated pre-rebate prices). Some people say retailers should abolish rebates and set prices at a reasonable level (which would be higher than rebated prices, obviously). This would be good for the average consumer who forgets to send in his or her rebates half the time, but not too great for deal seekers who take advantage of the fact that manufacturers offer rebates because there are more people who don't submit them than those who do. I'm not saying that all rebates are good, because two-thirds of them are designed for suckers; they raise the actual retail price 30% over the street price and give you a 35% rebate. I had a friend who bought Quake II from cyberrebate.com for $60 with a $60 rebate when Quake II was retailing for around $15 in store bargain bins. CyberRebate, of course, went bankrupt and I don't know if he ever got his $60 back. I generally don't buy any product with a rebate unless the post-rebate price is 20% lower than what I would normally expect to pay an online retailer like newegg.com without rebates. Heavily inflated pre-rebate prices tend to be fishy and I stay away from those as well.

Surprisingly, I've only had 2 rebates that were either denied or unsent more than 2 months after the dueback date. And for both of these, I still managed to get my check after a polite phone call. The most important thing to do in ensuring your rebates are processed is to remember that you're owed money in the first place. I used to use a Microsoft Access database to keep track of my rebates, but found using rebate-tracker.com to be faster and easier.

The reason I've never paid for an MMOG is not because I fear I'll be addicted and play too much. The reason I don't play MMOGs is the same reason I don't like to go to buffets: I'll try to get the food/money or time played/money ratio as high as possible for the economics of it to be more in my favor. If I pay $8 at a buffet and eat 2 ounces of food, I feel that I'm wasting money. If I eat 3 pounds of food, I get my money's worth but I also turn into a fat motherfucker. The same is true if I pay $15 per month for an MMOG and play only 20 hours per month. I don't want to pay $0.75 per hour for a game. But I also don't want to play more than 60 hours a month to get the price down to $0.25 per hour. (I'll probably end up corpulent too, like in the buffet example.)

I'm guessing worthplaying just skimmed the article and missed these parts (or they think Uwe Boll is enough of a nutjob that he would actually say these things):

Boll continued, "I want to guarantee the fans of the game that there will absolutely, positively be no campers in the movie. Ok, one guy will be really defensive, but that's because it's his job, not because he's camping."

The movie will focus on an international SWAT team assembled to stop a group of terrorists. However, before successfully foiling a bombing, the group must first face the internal challenges that threaten to tear it apart: The loudmouth beginner struggling for acceptance, the Team Killer who must face the consequences of a fatal accident, and the insecure wonder-kid accused of being gay.

However, the studio is leaning towards using animatronic animals in favor of human actors.

"The terrorism issue is still rather sensitive in America," said one studio executive who wished to remain anonymous. "Killing an animatronic goat is much more palatable to the American public. And it should also keep it PG-13, maybe lower."

As you can see from the signature at the ende of Novinky.cz article (http://www.novinky.cz/04/44/23.html), I am the author of the original Doom set report (and the picture used as thumb). Unfortunately, the Dark Horizons article took some selective bits and pieces from my article (not translated really well) and basically rearranged them into different article. Although the basic facts are correct (no Mars, no Hell, no spacesuits), the tone of my article was not entirely dismissive and I think that the movie might actually work (although not on the level that Doom fanatics expect, I am afraid). The filmmakers explained to the media (very reasonably) that there is no chance of making big-budget commercial Hollywood movie featuring upside-down crosses and "666" symbols. They also explained the secret "Final Twist" of the movie (making the ending of "The Village" seem positively tame in comparison) which was the reason why there are no spacesuits and almost no planet exteriors in the movie...
