My friend waited out in line for 90 minutes in the cold and finally got one the day it came out (in Japan.) His hopes for a cool portable system were dashed when: - He found out that the PSP uses a slower LCD than the Nintendo DS (for example) thus causing unwanted blur in games like Ridge Racer. - The left shoulder button sticks. When pushing it down, it tended to get stuck under the top of the PSPs body, and required flicking to get it back into the 'up' position. He presented it to the store with his reasons and they quickly refunded his money. I'm not sure if this is an isolated issue or not, but it remains to be seen if any other complaints surface. I imagine though, that it's not impossible as there's been a lot of grumbling recently about Sony's products.
I haven't had any memory problems with FireFox. I've used it on my 550Mhz TiBook w/512 quite comfortably. It does feel light and responsive, more so than Safari or Camino at times, and certainly more than Mozilla. The only real system-intensive browser I use is OmniWeb, which has a lot of bells and whistles, but can bring the system to a temporary halt sometimes.
I do find, however, that FireFox will become sluggish after long useage, and Mozilla sometimes just refuses to load pages anymore, requiring a quit and restart to get it going again. Only happens on occasion, but still annoying.
As funny as this is, unforunately there is a ring of truth to it.
With more and more first time Mac users hitting online forums, one can see a clear distinction between the snooty, old timers, the ones who've been "faithful" and with Apple since the beginning, and the new, just got a cheap iBook people (who were probably suckered by the iPod.)
It'll be interesting to see what happens.
... I clicked on the link at the top and took a look at the slide show. The 2nd photo was a guy riding a bike with a Dutch Wife on his shoulders. For a minute I thought it was one of the entries.
That doesn't sound so bad. I've met so many nice people on AOL. Why just last night, right out of the blue I got an instant message from sEXycHiK6969 who wanted to show me her webcam. Imagine that! And AOLs online help instant messages me everyday day asking about my credit card number. They really care about their customers!
I went back to Boston this Spring and found a bunch of un-WEPed base stations around my parents house so I didn't have to worry about internet access.
Over here in Japan, people lock their base stations down -like ALL of them. I've never been able to get on one. When I/do/ manage to find one broadcasting, it's always WEPed. Where's Japan's free WiFi? )-:
