it actually seems you missed the point. he's partnered with trigem for example. which means his hard work and dedication payed off more than engineer bean counting that you are so arrogant about. Also, he's an A.I. professor. Robots, my dear HotNeedleOfInquiry, require quite a bit of ability to work on at any meaningful level.

You simply cannot make a cheap, reliable product *and* mass-produce it unless you've got the experience and talent to do that.

as I said before, maybe he does
And it's been my experience that university professors are about as far away from that skill set as you'll find.
experiance is a wonderful thing, but its anecdotal (which as an engineer you should understand makes for flawed conclusions), just because your experaince says something doesnt mean its true

dont get me wrong here, a number of people in my family (including my father, uncle, grandfather) are engineers or have engineering backgrounds. I'm not nocking engineers. Please dont tell me however that someone without the "engineering qualifications" is simply unable to do something that an engineer can. School and a degree arent magic. Its the person that matters, and people can learn engineering skills without going to school for it.

believe it or not, I actually RTFA that you linked to...

the issue under discussion there isnt really can one own a color, the article is misleading in that respect.

the issue in that case is that the company Orange is claiming that "its rival having a similar logo to its own will cause confusion among its customers and damage its business.". This is a very different claim from saying it owns the color orange. The issue that easyMobile and Orange are fighting over is no different from any other case involving simillar names, logos, etc between rival companies.

Neither company is claiming to own orange (the color), they are arguing over whether easyMobile's symbols are close enough to that of Orange's to make it confusing and misleading to the customer. This includes the use of the color orange In this context.

Apple doesnt make (much) money on itunes anyway, its a way of selling iPods. That being so I'v never understood why they've not licenses their FairPlay DRM. The only reason I've ever been able to think of is that they're afraid that if they do, someone will make abetter iPod. However, thats why the free market exists. More competition will make the iPod better because Apple will have to compete more; and if the iPod stays good people will continue to buy iPods no matter where they get their music.

final opinion, this could be a blessing for apple if they welcome it, or a curse if they dig in their heels.
