have the feeling this wasn't intentional at all? Just like that game "broken telephone", the message is completely messed up by the time it gets down the chain:)

Innocent tech: Looks like the boss wants us to start our shows a minute later. Weird.
Providing you have a old box laying around, you could go out and purchase a serial ata pci card and... There is your 1.6T for a little over $1400.
I'm not saying it's a bad product. Just talking aloud:)
Exactly. I wouldn't "pay" to be able to keep my "media box" in the same room as my TV. Instead, I'll stick with my current "media box" which resides on the other side of the wall. It has nearly no storage space and instead, relies on my fileserver upstairs for it. I threw in a wireless-g pci card, which is probably the most expensive part in the damn thing. The video capture card I have is from ATI and comes with a nice remote (I drilled a very small hole in the wall to run the USB remote receiver).
The whole setup is very quiet, in the sense I can't hear it from the TV room.
The box was put together with spare parts, so the project took more time than money.
this is like when we used to play AOL sponsored frisbee in the basement of my house. The rules were simple, you stand in different ends of the basement and try to hit the other person. Needless to say it was a result of drinking. The game was short lived when he got hurt (only in the arm though).
1. Wait for MS to create reward system for writing worms
2. Write a worm
3. ???
4. Collect reward money
5. Move to a country that won't extradite you
Hmmm... Not a bad plan...
I bought a Dell 8100 a couple of years back, to only find out it took expensive RDRAM. It hurt to buy two sets of chips for each increment when the DDR folks were getting a much better deal. I suppose it was through falt of my own, but still;)
You're telling me these have been scams all along?! Oh boo...

"Scripts people write using PHP and SQL without understanding security issues are being proven more weak every day."
That is stating the obvious, but none the less - it must be said. Nealry every language/backend is a potential threat when developers who don't have an understanding or awareness of security start coding.
Before reading the article I had visions of someone profiting from the data collected... Anyways, I'm glad to see I was horribly wrong. I think the idea has a bright future for making the Internet stronger.
Immediately I don't see the data being creditable enough for upstream providers to use. However, in time, I see the project being an excellent model for Internet improvment!
I'd take part in this activity myself... I mean... There are always a *few* CPU cycles a day that aren't being used to stream pr0n;)
It's quite nice to see more and more wireless services/items being offered.
No more shall we live in a "wired" world! Alright, maybe not - but we're getting there.
I'd still like to retrofit my house for wireless connectivity. Mainly so I can sit out by the pool with my laptop. Technically I can do it now, but without network connectivity... Well, let's be honest - it's no fun.
Global warming? When did this happen? Oh wait... This isn't new. I just forgot the speed at which the gov't reacts. Silly me, what was I thinking?
Seriously though, it'd be nice for more and more nations to pick up on this "trend" of reducing global warming. It'll be rough when the ocean rises a single cm and destroys coast line businesses. Perhaps then it'll become a bigger issue?
test
It'd be neat to get a London exchange via Vonage and call up some relatives "locally".
Incredible potential for those with certian handicaps that would normally prevent mouse+keyboard interaction.
anyone forsee large amount of ascii pr0n too?

The drive contains four 400GB Maxtor HDDs which are recognised as a single drive.
:)
A quick glance on http://www.pricewatch.com/m/mn.aspx?i=26&f=1 here and we see 400GB Serial ATA drives go for $355 USD$
400 * 4 = 1.6T
355 * 4 = $1420

I would have posted a mirror, but the /. affect on the SCO site is much more fun.
Another else immediately think of the Queen song from long ago... "another one bites the dust, another one bites the dust"?

classic story I know...
"In later news, the FAA has banned all batteries from all flights... Little Timmy won't be able to play his gameboy on those long flights."
Back in the day, we just threw/hit the ball and hoped for the best!

Thanks Dell, you rock!
Some of us don't even have libraries you insensitive clod!
There's a thing as "too much" technology.
'nuff said.
All of these misses... Geez, the universe sure does have bad aim!
... $5 wiresnips were useless.
