I can understand why they don't like him. He's a ultra-rightwing fucktard just like his counterpart to the south. And BTW, our troops are in Afghanistan, which I'm sure pisses off the extremists.

How the hell does that stand to reason? I'm poor, can I blow up your house? Newsflash: Muslim does not mean terrorist. Arabic does not mean extremist. The terrible actions of a few people cannot mean that everybody must give up their freedoms. What about this jackass that just shot up Dawson College? Littleton CO? Shall we wage a war on 'goths'? The amount of deaths by terrorism are statistically insignificant next to death from smoking cigarettes. Still totally legal. Automobile accidents...shall we outlaw cars? Heart disease from poor diets? McDonalds is still open and advertising their wares. What exactly do you think the war on terrorism is protecting us from? It sure as hell isn't to prevent our deaths. Sure, fight the Taliban. Fight Al-Queda. But don't fucking throw all our freedoms in the toilet in the process. This is funny. If I am frothing at the mouth, it is because you will not admit you are either wrong, or misspoke. You didn't say Ogg format isn't the best for all cases. I am not arguing that Ogg _is_ the best for all (or even any) cases. Ogg really has nothing to do with it, as I mentioned, I have music in all sorts of formats. Hell, I even have vinyl. I would respond exactly the same if you said _anything_ I know to be patently untrue, like say: "Toyota cars are unsuited for driving at highway speeds". Your later remarks about the iAudio not being 'lowend' and a '$20 player' have nothing to do with what you originally said. _You_ are trying to change the meat of your argument. I don't want and/or need a $20 dollar player. If you want one find it yourself. Besides, did you ever think you cannot find one because there isn't a market for it? You seem to be getting the impression that I am evangelizing Oggs, I am not. I full-on understand that they are not for everyone. You contend that "Ogg doesn't suit the purpose well". Me and two others, who actually have a portable device that plays Oggs say it suits the purpose just fine. Three different players I might add.

Now maybe you had a bad experience with an Ogg player years back, maybe an Ogg player killed your brother, or maybe you're just a troll talking out of your ass. Either way, things change, technology advances, and whether you can cope with it or not, Ogg Vorbis format is perfectly suited for portable music players. Deal with it...

OS X is more expensive. If you like it more, that's cool, but your argument that it's cheaper doesn't hold up.

But I think it does hold up. First of all, I am emphatically not a Mac fanboy, I am linux fanboy. I bought a G5 to do video editing (Linux just isn't there yet) and to just, well, check it out. I'll be honest: I don't really like OS X. Well, I don't like the glossy GUI anyway.

Since I am Canadian, and the 'leaked' prices are in CAD, we'll use that. Tiger is listed for $149[1]. That's what I paid for a box set. I don't have to shell out for Leopard (point in fact I will not) so your "10.2, 10.3, 10.4) at $129 apiece" isn't really valid. That's just for the super fanboys. Windows Vista Ultimate, whatever that means, is $499. I don't know personally but I have gleamed from slashdot here that the home version is basically castrated and you need the premium version to do anything useful. Thats at $299. Still twice as much as OS X. How is windows cheaper again?

OK, now that we have talked dollars and cents, let's talk value. What does Windows come with again? IE, Notepad and a calculator? OS X comes with all that and more! Xcode for one, which is basically a full developers suite of tools including GCC et al. How much is a license for Visual Studio? $1,123.00![2] Ouch. Let's not forget all the industrial strength UNIX software that OS X is bundled with. And with fink you can install pretty much any OSS code written for Unix. I realize there is lots of freeware/OSS ports available for windows too but c'mon...

I think the real question here is how much does it cost to get a useable workstation. And I think OS X wins this handily. Again, I really don't care for OS X that much (the hardware is super-sweet though) but I guess I just don't get your math.

Fella', your analogy is stretched so far you could slingshot bowling balls to the moon with it. I certainly hope by "some MUSIC ALBUMS" you mean "1 in about 15000 MUSIC ALBUMS". And even if they were created with the intent of 'linear auditory consumption' it is still nowhere near the amount of confusion you would incur by watching a DVD's chapters out of order. Other posters' 'book' analogies are even worse than yours.

The gas station has the guy's face, and his license plates clear as day on security video. They phone the police and get told by the RCMP that they will not follow up this seemingly open and shut case, the reason? The RCMP says it is "too much work" to investigate every pump-and-run, and it is the gas station's fault anyway because they don't require payment up front.
