My wife actually works at the photo lab at Wal-Mart in our home town, and if someone brings in pictures that look professional, they just ask them to sign a copyright form stating that they took the pictures, just to cover their own ass. They can also get copyrighted pictures printed if you can get the photographer to give you a copyright release.

It is people like you that create the divisions and discrimination in society. Just because someone has piercings does not decrease their worth as a person or an employee. Piercings and tattoos have no bearing on a person's morals or work ethic. Actually, people with piercings and tattoos, in my experience, tend to work harder because we realize that, because of preconcieved notions in our society, we have to work harder to kind of "prove ourselves" because people like you see us and think of us as lesser quality employee.

But you people act like going to work isn't putting your family first. You have to have a job to put food on the table. Yeah, if you don't like your job, then quit, but if you have a family, you better find another job first, because you are just going to fuck yourself over. Oh, and by the way, it is no longer the nineties. And I've never fucking live in 1967, I'm only 21 jackass.

Your family is a million times more important then your company. I totally agree with you, but you have to think of it the other way, too. The company that you work for and are supposed to show dedication to is what allows you to support your family. So, going to work on time and doing your job is really putting your family first by putting a roof over their heads and food on the table.

But the license keys don't have to be like that. If you buy from a retailer such as Dell (like we do), you can use the license copy then, when we sell the machines later on, you just re-install the OEM version of XP from Dell. That way, you still have the licenses, and the license doesn't go with the machine. I don't know exactly how our license with Microsoft works, but we have an academic partnership with them, so I don't think we have as much of a worry about numbers of licenses.

  14. Re:wow! on Gartner Says Linux PCs Just Used To Pirate Windows · · Score: 1

The thing is, if you have 100+ Dell machines that shipped with Dell-installed XP, then you may have to go through 100+ keys to find the right one. In that occasion, I think the licensed copies would be a lot more practical. That's more what I was thinking of, and its probably easier to load an image later rather then rebuild if you have something like a hard drive or something go down.

I work at a college, and we order from Dell, but we don't use the Dell copies. The easiest thing to do (since you have to get the computer with an OS anyway) is, as soon as you get the computer, reinstall Windows with you VL CD. This eliminates the confusion by have many different copies of both VL and OEM Windows on your machines, and makes things easier in the long run.

Yeah, it slows down the business apps, thy're lucky it doesn't totally cause them to stop working. I understand it is the software company's responsibility to release the updated patches for compatibility, but does it make sense to have to do that? I mean, this is an update to an existing OS, not a whole new environment. I can understand a couple programs with problems with a new update, but with the extensive lists of programs that don't work and programs that change behavior I think there is something wrong here.
