I agree this guy certainly comes across as a wack job. Anyone who thinks its artisitc to recreate a WWII era germ warfare experiment by shooting (even "harmless") bacteria at gunea pigs off the isle of lewis desreves everything they get in my opinion.

This guy has obviously courted controversy to get exposure for his "art" including breaking the law to obtain bacteria cultures. This should in my opinion be an open and shut case.

The effect would be that anything that sounded like Mark Twain could be recognised as spammy without the individual words themselves becoming indicators.

Dunno how plausible it'd be..wish I'd though of this a year ago and could have done it for my computer linguistics project.

I think its pretty funny cos normally when people not into games start playing...say a driving games you'll see them physically lean round corners and tilt the game pad and such, or in a platformer you see them mimicing a jumping motion with the controller.

Now the question is making these involuntary actions have actual effects going to help or hinder people. On the one hand you think there is a strong natural urge for people to try to control the game characters in this way. But on the other hand only people who are shit do that, so are they really going to have the resolution of control to utilise an extra dimension or two of control.

It also is guaranteed to make you loook like a retard when your playing it. I remember watching some guy playing a shooting game in an arcade where it tracked you body movement...it was the funniest thing ever!!! But then that still doesnt mean it wont be a success...i mean people love DDR and that makes you look like a retard too.

  19. Re:Virtual Console Will Rock on Nintendo's Next-Gen Arsenal · · Score: 1

I really dont get this, i have a mate really into vintage gaming and i just can reconcile the concept in my mind. I mean I loved playing NES/SNES games back in the day but when I come back to play them again theyre utter shite

Its not just the graphics either, the much touted better "gameplay" is usually just a shallower game with less depth and it boosts the ego of people who have been out of the gaming scene who find modern games far too hard. Then theres the nonsensical plots which seem to be derived from poorly translated japanese...i mean some of the dialogue could be incredibly cryptic

You are however right about Nintendos strength being its Intellectual Property, I mean just slap marios face on something and its bound to sell by the bucket load. The SNES and original gameboy really suffered for this with Mario goes shopping, Mario play naughts and crosses (naught means zero for you americans btw), mario poorly translated graphical text adventure, mario hat cleaning ..well you get the point. Then they can release them all again with yoshi or wario (man i bet that took hundreds of [possibly dyslexic] man hours to come up with).

Plus at the end of the days nintendo consoles are really for women and little kiddies....Me im going to grow my beard a few inches, drink some beer, eat red meat and play xbox / pc / playstation ...possibly in a pickup truck

  20. Re:Nintendo's Strength on Nintendo's Next-Gen Arsenal · · Score: 1

Im not convinced nintendo really make the gaming experience any better...i thought they were just good a drawing vaguely japanese/anime style cartoon characters.

Seriously though i think its more to do with widely accesible casual titles which dont take hours of time to play that are perfect for multiplayer party style environments...not like lan parties i mean like house parties or something ...you know with women and drink and maybe some mario kart on the telly that people can pick up for a few mins.

I dont have any nintendo systems but the xbox has a couple of titles in this category like the 2 burnout games and the tony hawks series.
