Unlimited vacation eh ? When an American says this, they actually mean 20 days of vacation. People are stupid enough to believe that unlimited means unlimited.
Why should the parent keep a 24/7 monitoring system on their son or daughter, their no longer a baby and beed to be taught responsibility.
It sets a bad future precedent that someone will always look over their shoulder. Wait until they start cubicle work, then they won't know any difference with someone peeping in on them.
There's a lot of talk about others being unhappy, so i'll be unhappy. This is a herd instinct, take it a step further, why are you unhappy?
If your getting paid, how can you be unhappy? Is'nt that the most important thing? I think a lot of people have lost focus. Times are tough and you have to focus on the important things. Do you really know what's important? Putting food in your belly, providing shelter and more important than happiness, perhaps not much but a little.
If your in a job, great, then your probably luckier than you actually realise, so stop complaining.
Ask yourself, what would make you happy, how could morale be improved? You'll find that in most cases everything is fine, yet the person or persons are simply bored. You want a change of your routine, you dont want to wake up at 7am, you want to sleep till 9am. You don't want to chat around the water cooler, you want to go and travel. You don't want to see the same colleague sitting across the desk, as you've seen them there for 2 years, you want to see someone else, your just bored with yourself, not the job or workplace itself.
This is the cause of low morale in the majority of cases. People are projecting their boredom with themselves onto whatever is closest to them, which just happens to be the company, think again, because in many cases your the cause of that low morale.
I noticed on dice, that they have a lot of contracts on there lately. Take whatever comes, it does'nt matter if its a contract or a permament position at the moment. Only employers(usually HR but some managers) who don't understand the market get hung up over your position of employment.
We need techniques for cold calling. ok you may have friends at a prospective company, but the chances are slim.
I think we need better techniques for resume application and a greater understanding of the HR screening process so that we know how it works, thus how to work with effectively.

The long term implications of an Ultra secure operating system based on Sparc hardware is a very interesting one. A whole new niche market could be opening up here. More interestingly, this will be I believe one of the steps needed towards the Fortune 500 moving to OpenBSD. It's just a matter of time, before their emphasis on security is doubled, or tripled from what it presently is as industry continues to move online and companies increasingly continue to protect their assets especially due to tight profit margins. I can see paranoia becoming the default at long last and a thirst for highly secure systems.
I've already seen a couple of financial institutions use OpenBSD. Would be interesting to see figures for real world present usage by industry.

I work with a laptop every day at the office and so I know from my experience that this is a bad decision.
The keyboard is too small, so I use an external keyboard.
The screen size is also too small, and I don't have an external monitor.
At the end of your day, health is important, and your eyesight will suffer from using a smaller screen over a prolonged period of time.
Also desktops are more powerful, faster and less frustrating to use.

Is there a clear picture of Mr Boince?
You can't just move to Japan and start working. It requires a Japanese work permit which is'nt so easy to obtain.

Ummm so why don't these guys just backpack around the world, why do they require an excuse using a PC as elaborate as this?
Why should the parent keep a 24/7 monitoring system on their son or daughter, their no longer a baby and beed to be taught responsibility.

Does that scare you?

So what he's really saying is Unix is dead, long live Linux.
Rename Linux to Unix which will probably happen anyway, and then you could say, long live Unix.
See a cycle anywhere?
Makes me wonder if Sun Microsystems will be next
And cash. I don't like that. I don't like Microsoft. Lets make Microsoft pay or every email.
So this means clans of Counterstrike teams fragging at base camp, yeah baby!

I think we have to tackle this differently.

I'd like to know where did you get these statistics from, I did'nt realise it was as high as that, just in USA?
Are you an American who worked in Canada and then decided to move back to USA?
If you are a Canadian wanting to work in America, do you require any form of work permit?
Listen carefully.
Buy a PC and work with that. Install as many different systems and become comfortable with that, including Solaris x86.
Don't waste money on certifications, they won't help enough to give you the edge.
Wow, Maxtor make 300GB drives, when did that happen.
What is the end size projection of hard disks for the end of the year?
I wonder what skills people need to become employed there.
So who wants to write an open source resume blaster? 8-)
Some clever of interfacing with freecddb and possibly p2p and possibly a commercial entity (shop) would be very interesting.
So you select piano, and then go into artists etc.
Does anything like this exist?
It's not personal, it's just business and standard practise at that to lock user accounts.

I don't see why it can't be disassembled?

Rock on OpenBSD.
Yep, does'nt work, in fact ifilm using a web browser is broke.
Anyone got a mirror, and not Apple's webpage, ifilm has new material on there.
