interesting because there actually is not debate on this. the poles have already been choosen as a landing location for a stationary lander with a deployable rover.
"Work is now underway to design a lander mission at a lunar polar region and explore this unknown terrain. Data from this mission will permit intelligent and efficient planning for future human exploration and utilization of the Moon."
one thing that bothered me about google maps is that it doesn't have poi like yahoo maps. would be nice if google maps showed locations of subway stops like yahoo maps does under "Travel & Transportation" just to see what metro stops are close by a restaurant...
reminds me of an article about making politcal candidates responsible for any illegal action their constituents perform (eg a supporter makes ballots, you get in trouble), kinda makes running for office less appealing
hate to be grammar nazi but does this sentence messed up or waht
Cohen's bid to commercialize BitTorrent is a measure of how far the entertainment industry has come since the late 1990s, when Napster introduced millions of people to the power of peer-to-peer technology for downloading songs -- and mobilized scores of lawyers to shut it down."
Relavent quote about tivo for the internet "We ultimately want to see internet TV Channels that download video in the background and let you watch at your convenience (a TiVo for the internet). All the basic technology is there, it just hasnt been packaged intuitively yet. But its going to happen soon and I think people will be very, very surprised at the quality and diversity and popularity of whats going to sprout."
bad analogy, downloading shows and watching them is nothing like tivo at all. but, the concept is pretty lame anyways since you have to wait for your show to download, it is about as convenient as waiting for your show to come on tv and watching it.. streaming is the way to go.
a hacked tivo box can do some of the things myth tv can do (add bigger hd, look at pictures, rss, weather, setup ftp server) http://javahmo.sourceforge.net/screenshots.html. but a lot of the hacking seems like too much trouble to get it to work. I like my myth tv box, works great, can network it to my other computer easily with samba, can play divx/xvid/mp3/etc, and supports transcoding. Myth can be installed easily using KnoppMyth. Hoping to put a hd tuner card in there when i get some $$.

"Because of outsourcing..." Up untill this point I thought he was just a bit selfish and uncaring for others, but no. Actualy he's an ignorant whinger too! Yet more proof that people can be very clever and talented in some areas, and unbelievably brain dead in others.
MANY of you may have never used the hp48gx but this calculator owned all others out on the market (ti 80 or something) it came out a in the early 90s and had way more features. This included an ir port (turn on the tv in class), internal clock, memory card slots, speaker (yes could play midi type music), and built in rom chip with equations and constants. However it was rpn, reverse polish notation, and a steep learning curve for the average guy because the builtin software was slow and clumsy. What made this calculator great was all the engineering programming for it. The functionality on the hp48gx is much greated than even the ti 89. you can do laplace transforms, integrate, change from floating point to fractions, solve equations for variables, and cheat is lots of other ways.
that's why it owns it also included a soft zipper case, was well constructed, only used 3 triple a batteries, and good buttons (clicky). I haven't tried the 49 but i hear they hired some of the programmers that worked on the 48 programs to write the stuff for the 49. Sorry to hear they took out the ir port and made the buttoms plasticy, but hopefully the software is good now.
=]
Please try again in a few minutes.
What is this an 8 ball?
I never thought u could get a search engine that crashed as much as windows me. what else can they get to crash, maybe they can upgrade hotmail and make it crash too, or upgrade notepad to make it faster
so what would be a good filesystem to use for a pvr (personal video recorder)? How about for a mail server or web server?
XFS i am guessing for the pvr and reiser for the others.
if linux keeps trying to run windows programs, it will always be lagging a little behind windows (the programs were written for windows). even if software comes out that lets you run windows programs in linux, microsoft will just react by making a new os that is even more convoluted and harder to emulate. what needs to happen is adding capabilities to linux that windows doesn't have. so people will think, hmm can't do this in windows, guess i'll use linux. i guess some can argue linux has stabilty and windows doesn't, but if you install windows2000 it's pretty stable out of the box, the instability in windows is caused by installing lots of programs.
i can see people using this to play twister
Right foot blue! (Right foot blue!)
