Lots of people don't use their computers for doing anything beyond posting on Facebook, tending their FarmVille crops, and watching cute cat video compilations on YouTube.
I can see how ChromeOS would be perfect for many many people.
I believe that I read in the update notes that the new browser is using Flash Lite 3.1, which is like Flash 8 only... lite-er?. At any rate, my first (and only) attempt to load Pandora caused the browser to lock up solid.
The last power consumption comparison I saw showed that the AMD processor consumed 26% more power on average, and a full 50% more power to complete the same benchmark. Either way you slice it, AMD processors seem to use more power.. but I would say that the 50% figure gives you a better picture of real-world performance.
If their vehicles are any indication, the phone will take a beating, but all the most expensive components will require regular replacement under normal use.
I usually vote anti-incumbent, but this time around I simply chose not to vote for anyone who was for the bailout... which is almost the same thing anyway.
Of course, this limited my vote for president to 3rd party candidates. In Maine, this means either Nader or a write-in.
Once Windows programs are written with UAC in mind, UAC won't be such a problem.
This might be true some of the time, but Renaming a shortcuts on my desktop shouldn't produce two dialog boxes that require my attention. I'm pretty sure this isn't the application's fault.
I was going to recommend this phone as well. My wife has a Nokia 6030. No camera, great battery life, great reception in our area (can get a signal out in the boonies where none of my past cell phones have been able to) It feels kind of light and cheaply made, but it's a budget phone.
She got the phone with her T-Mobile pay-as-you-go type contract for about $30.
the market for people who are (A) building their computer from components, _and_ (B) run Linux on it, _and_ (C) didn't buy a cheap 9200 or 5200, is very very very small.
Are you sure? I mean, I'm part of that group.. I figured there would be lots nerd types who dual boot Windows and Linux. They might use Windows for gaming and have mid/high end video card for that, but use Linux daily for normal tasks and want their expensive hardware to perform well in that environment as well.
1. The option that they provided as "somewhat of a kindness" is the only option that's ever worked.
2. I own a license for Windows XP. I don't think I should have to pay for the full version to get a working Vista system... but who knows, the upgrade may work this time, I'm just not very optimistic.
3. I use Ubuntu, but I still need Windows. If I do upgrade to Vista at some point, I'm pretty sure it'll be with an OEM version. It wont allow you to transfer the license to another computer, but I don't care as long as I'm still able to upgrade my hardware.
There are lots of good sites that depend on ads to pay the bills. A browser capable of blocking all ads would only make their existence more difficult, if not impossible.
The world is full of lazy schlubs who think they're entitled to everything. They don't contribute, instead they only exist to consume. I can't blame any open source project for not pandering to the needs/wants of people like that.
I'm also a little dissapointed in the lack of NAVTEQ data for the API users. I've had to switch my project to use Microsoft's service because of the outdated TeleAtlas data. It's really too bad, becasue I prefer Google's API.
I don't really understand what a robotic parking is. I read the part of the article that sort of explains it, and all I can imagine is that a robotic parking attendant is actually an automated forklift of some kind that shuffles cars around. Is that about right?
The way I see it, buying the better product is an insentive for the other guy to make their product better.
The half of capitalism that you forgot to mention is that there's quite a market for processors that cost less than $2000. If Intel doesn't service that market, than someone else will. Stop getting all dramatic.
And next year (or 2) AMD will pass Intel again and you'll have to change your mind again. Why don't you just stick with AMD since it was their competition that brought you this little gem from Intel? Without AMD, you'd still have a 3.0 Ghz P4 and youd be paying $700 for it.
Personally, I don't care. I don't see how anyone could consider that they owe any company their business. I'm sorry, but AMD is not going to love you back.
The only reason all of my machines have AMD processors right now is because they were the best I could buy at the time. I'm not interested in some alternate universe where AMD doesn't exist. I will make my purchasing decision based on quality and price, just like with everything else I buy. If AMD has something better in two years, great, that's what I'll be buying in two years. That's how capitalism works.

The northern half of Maine is that bad.

I doubt it has anything to do with ad revenue. There are too many possible variables for this type of search to be useful.
Chocolate in what form? chips? a solid brick? syrup? cocoa powder? melted?
Two lbs of sawdust in cups. What type of wood? Birch? Poplar? Maple? Walnut? Sawdust from a chainsaw or a table saw?
You have got to be kidding me. What next? Two lbs of filing cabinets in gallons?

...all of my hard work preparing for the zombie invasion will soon pay off.

I just finished downloading from that pirate bay torrent. The MD5 sum checks out. (ubuntu feisty fawn desktop i386)

We shouldn't need the federal highway money anyway, our state taxes are ridiculous.

Not only are they expensive, all they ever show is bobbing man-ass.
yes.
You Anal?
Bomberman will have to do until Tetris makes the list. I've never played the TurboGrafx 16 version, but I assume it's the same idea.
