You're missing the usual tirade on the XBox 360 being the Dreamcast 2.0 and how the PS3 is going to save us all and how everyone is just misguided in calling the PS2 a complete piece of shit. You know, the samepolemic crap you throw at every single gaming hardware discussion.
Who would have thought that PC game sales would drop off after a year seeing hyped up megasellers like Doom 3, Half-Life 2 and World of Warcraft? Especially after lacking any major hyped up titles (BF2 and GW weren't hyped nearly as much as those FPSes with flashier graphics)? Sure, there was Civ 4 but that's hardly going to make up for the lack of those hyped FPSes.
My money is on the marketing division of Sony Computer Entertainment (too bad there isn't a Sony Cybernetics Corporation yet...). Looking at the PSP ads ("It's the carpet you can watch outside!") they deserve it.
Isn't it a better idea to port it to the PC if the console companies don't want it? That way it's open to everyone, unlike requiring some arcane ritual to make the game run each time you want to play it. Hell, sometimes I play one game over another because I'm too lazy to change CDs!
I haven't seen it, but I've read that the PS2's version of Resident Evil 4 is the best of all three consoles. This surprised me, but I'll take it on faith.
It's considered better because it has additional content (Sony refuses to allow late ports without additional content to be published), not because it's technically superior. Gameplay supercedes technical aspects.
So Microsoft is on pace to sell 30 - 50 million units? And those estimates are constrained by production problems. Your right, that's a total failure.
That's assuming sales remain constant throughout the whole lifetime of the system. Sales will fluctuate with game releases, competition and season. A strong competitor could put a huge dent into the XC's sales and sales aren't going to be as high during summer as they are during winter. Killer apps will boost, game droughts reduce sales. I'd say any attempts at predicting lifetime sales at this point in time is futile.
Yeah and get this: There's tons of car simulators, too! And apparently people buy them as well!
Train and flight sims are popular and fun to many people. Same as model trains or planes. Saying you should just pilot a real plane instead is like saying you should be joining the Army instead of playing Battlefield.
It seems you're confusing fusion and fission. If fission wasn't capable of producing a positive power output France wouldn't have electricity. Fission is what happens in nuclear powerplants right now, fusion is the thing they're trying to get ready by 2060.
The "secret" levels in SMS cause many deaths, especially if the camera decides that it knows a better point of view than your current one or you misjudge the distances of objects freely flying in space without any points of reference.
I think it originates from 4 because pro sports teams often have a LOT of merchandise available.
Tri-wing. Nintendo loves those.

No, that's just the summary by Gamespot. They have the actual Iwata quote in there and he just says "North America".
That's probably because there's more /. readers familiar with EVE than Ryzom.
That freaking website tells me I have to enable cookies to use it. I only allow cookies from whitelisted websites.
How freaking incompetent do you have to be to require cookies for a bunch of text???

... in an equally reckless and suicidal way?
I can't even visualize what that would look like, let alone how to complete it.
He did it blindfolded too?
He had to be blindfolded, the mere sight of a six-dimensional Rubik's "Cube" is enough to make a man go insane.
They probably didn't want to say "The DS can't handle WPA encryption AND gaming".
That costs me $500. A GeForce 6800 GT costs the same amount.
You should shop around a bit more. The 6800GT was available for 350 when it was new.

What do you think polygons, textures, normalmaps, etc are?
Your brain can add details but only if it thinks the details belong there. And you never get close enough to see the lack of detail.

And I, for one, welcome our new rotary overlords.
What does the Rotary club have to do with that?

Mario should have stayed in 2d.
I don't think the XBox 360 can really be considered a mobile game system...
It all seems to boil down to getting people to stay pacified by moving picture boxes so we don't care about anything else.
Fahrenheit 451?
The PS3 is advertised at 2 TFLOPS. The CPU itself is somewhere around 300-500MFLOPS including all the vector units. The rest is the GPU.
I'm more interested in duping fish myself.
Perhaps it'd force Blizzard to make a GUI that doesn't suck.
