It is good that you look at the underlying factor. However the question goes deeper. WHY are boys more passionate in things that lead to STEM and girls into things like kindergarten teacher and HR?
In all the companies I have worked HR is at least 75% female and at many it is 100%. So what causes these passions? Nature or nurture. More and more it is clear that it is nurture. one test: People have asked to watch a kid and play with a kid. They had no idea what the sex of the kid was. They had both boys and girls toys. If they where not told what the gender was, the adults would play with the kids with either type of toys. If they knew, they would play with the gender specific toy with the kid. The kids where at an age that they did not care if it was a doll or a car and played with both.
If kids would have truly the choice in what they play with, regardless of what parents, uncles and TV tell them is right, then both you would start to see that both genders will have the interest in both.
And these gender roles are everywhere. It starts with what card you buy for somebody when they have a boy or a girl. This does not mean this is a bad thing or a good thing. It is just a fact.
As they want to give it away, could they not give it to a person or group who then publishes it? They could give it to Google and even also give it for free to Vimeo and Microsoft. They can then publish it as normal video content and not as a lecture.
Don't forget that WWII was won together with a LOT of other countries. They could not have done it alone.
And Trump might be stupid enough to push the button and think he will win without any issue.
I just hope that he resigns because he is bored before that happens. Not even three months in and it still has to go downhill even further for the US and the rest of the world. How do jump off a burning train when it drives through a forest fire?
Have you seen Beach Blanked Bingo? Have you seen the majority of the movies in the 50-ies and 60-ies. They took a title and made a movie around it.
There have been bad movies and bad stories and bad music since the beginning of time. It is just that those are forgotten.
Stories get retold. The reason they do this might be a surprise, but it is money. People hear 'Matrix reboot' and they will know what it is about more or less. That is about 75% of their marketing budget that can be used for something else.
Now try to market Branded. Great movie, but the majority of people will have no idea what that would be about. Is it an action movie, or a RomCom or a western about cattle? And this is a movie that already exists.
Even "Bambi 3, the dear deer." will have a better idea on what it is about than "Sporadic alerts" written by me, no matter the quality. So less marketing cost and more people that will go and see it.
So why would they want to do original stories again?
As a parent, I get how easy it is to be absolutely paralyzed by fear of $everyBadThingEver happening to your child.
If you are that afraid, you should not have children. I don't have any of my own (unrelated to the subject) and can only see what my sister did. No baby proofing. The kids will hit their head against the glass table only once. They will cry and bleed a bit. They will get kisses and learn to not do that again. No specific monitoring of the kids against child molesters. The risk of that happening is far less than keeping them inside all the time. Not being friends with them, but parents. That means the love is unconditional and tough love is part of that.
Giving them a vaccine is almost obvious when you actually care that they become adults that know how to behave in society. Did they make mistakes and got hurt? You bet. That is part of learning. Walking it off is also part of it. And obviously each situation is different. Also depends on their age.
You walk against the table as a kid. Hugs and kisses. You fall when you are 17 doing something extremely stupid on your skateboard and you bump your head, you will be laughed at.
Same here: had an employee whose stepdad was dying and send to the hospital. I send him away right away. He said "But who will be in the strore?" I said "Nobody. Close it. Not your issue anymore. That is my problem now."
Different company. My mom was not well. I went there for a few days (She lived in a different country) just before X-mas. It was worse than we tjought and I had to stay till after X-Mas. The only reaction I got was "How are you holding up?"
Month later. I go to my,om and she dies. Instead of a long weekend, I stayed 3 weeks. Not an issue. I had holidays, so that was not a problem, but they told me (in case I forgot in the stressed situation) that if there paid holidays where not enough, I would get unpaid leave, no questions asked.
Being available 24/7 would not be allowed in Belgium. It will be asked for some, but that is a slippery slope. They can not enforce it and that means they can't do anything if you are assdrnk at 03:00 on saturday night for a long weekend. Because it would mean you do not have any time for yourself at any time, because somebody might call.
Doesn't mean that it never happens, especially in smaller companies. Many employees will not know the law and just do what the others have been doing before them.
Fun part is that if you get fired, you might go after a LOT of money they still owe you for those hours.
Now if you have a rotation system where you get e.g. one week per month AND you get compensated for that time, things become different. Last person I spoke to got 30% pay for offtime, 100% for answering the call and 200% if he had to get into work.
But all the time? No way that would be legal. If you have a contract that says so and you do so, start documenting it and you could get a lot of extra money if they fire you. (Just like when you are not allowed to work at the competition when you leave. They must pay YOU, not the other way around.)
My boss will be ok with me extra hours for free. The HR department where I work will insist that I follow the law and get compensation in either extra hours off or extra money. They would also require me to not work more than a certain amount bof hours and have enough time between shifts.
This all so they will not be suid at a later date by me or other employees who are jealous or just want to hurt the company.
Yes, I have been in a situation where these things happen. I have talked to HR as a manager about these things and they basically say "If we don't know, we don't care, so don't tell us, but if we get any official info, we must do the following by law..."
So even if his boss was OK with it, does not mean that the company/HR was ok with it.
Obviously, if people knew their masturbatory habits would be put up for sale to the highest bidder, they would have avoided this product.
Obviously you have no idea what obviously means. This is just one device where people are tracked and the data sold. It has happened in the past and will happen in the future over and over again, till law will take action that is.
John Olliver had it right that when he did the Interview in Russia with Edward Snowed that people would not mind to be spied on, untill it was about looking at their dick pics.
This goes a bit deeper (see what I did there) than just a dic pic and that is why there aws an outrage.
Almost everything you have and that has data transfered will sell its data at one point or another if that is allowed.
People where upset when Mucrosoft was tracking everybody and everything, but no real outrage and no lawsuits. The same for every other situation till now.
So the people who decide politics (companies are people too) will change the law so it will become legal.
We are talking browers and you start talking about what you want in your email client. Are we really there where even on/. people think that a browser is the same as an email client when you see your mail?
My great aunt never had kids. Hendrikje van Andel-Schipper. She became the oldest person in the world. She opensources her body and was the reason investigation as to why people age are done in The Netherlands. Other things have been found out thanks to her as well.
One of the things they do have noticed, the doctor that does the investigation told me, was that it seems (but has not yet proven) a lot of centinarians are very positive minded people. More than average. They tend to be more open and social and less stressed.
For all we know, they had a lot of other information. I have seen cases where all the info was correct, but evidence was dropped, because they had not changed their PC to winter/summer time. The information was on a fixed line with a fixed IP and everything of the information was correct. That was fun to se going down. It was not about childporn, but about copyright infringement, so not that bad when they had to drop the case because of that.
The fact that it could does not mean that it did. To me it sounds like a fair amount of the grievance what was done to him. Could have been a bit higher, perhaps, but that depends on a lot of circumstances.
If I where in the same situation and would not have lost my job or anything else, but pushing back, I would be happy with it.
Obviously I would be happier if it were 10 Brazillian, but that would be, I think, not reasonable. As it was settled outside court, it means he was compensated for his loss in time and not their fault in it.
Nationalizing health benefits would result in large job losses, as health insurance companies would disappear.
So you mean to say that there are no health insurance companies in Europe? Also remember that health insurance is just a part of insurance. All the paperwork still needs to be done. The person who gets less is the CEO and shareholders.
and, if true [...], would shake the very foundation of American government
And what if it is false? To me that is WORSE than if it where true. Because if it is true, you can go and hold people accountable.
The whole thing should be about acountability. And there is none if it is false. He would just say it was something he heard (on Breitbart). However he is POTUS and in that he should be held accountable for everything he says and tweets.
Remember when that one guy lied about getting a blowjob? This is not about if sex is the same as a blowjob. This is about POTUS telling a lie and doing it over and over and over again and again.
Just remember that in 4 years, a bigger idiot can become POTUS if there is no acountability. Do you want a totalitairian system? Because that is how you get a totalitairian system.
First let me be the first to say that it never happened. That said, the fact what is legal and/or procedure doesn't mean jack shit nowadays. If the FBI can lie, if the NSA can lie, if any other person in government can lie and all this without any consequences, there is NO reason why I should be discussing what the procedure should be.
That is just a nice mental exercise. Besides that, it is a waste of time.
Seriously question: why are Republican lawmakers so willing to sell out their own constituents?
Because they can.
And why do rank and file republican voters go along with it?
And then what? Become a Communist?
Unfortunately party loyalty is a thing and it makes people blind. This happens on BOTH sides. This bi-party thing (Yes, there are other options, but those are statistics, not real parties) makes it that people select the lesser of two evil. Human nature sees to it that people think that the choice they made was for the best one, not for the second worst one.
And I am sure that with newspeak (Uber: We are not a taxi company), we will soon get that these are not ads. They are consumer infomation bulletins or some other crap. That will give them another 2-4 years to change the law in their favour.
And MS and Apple are not the most evil ones. They are just the biggest ones.
In the mean time all we see is some people moan about it on some websites. The companies are not interested in you as a customer. So why would they do what you want?
If you see how much money these companies make, you can harly blame them, because what they do works.
Not an option for me as I often am on computers where I am unable to install anything, like on this one. Obviously I do not use them for banking things and the like.
So I have several layers of passwords going down in security level: 1) My home network 2) My email 3) My banking 4) My Online store 5) My bullshit/. is 5. I also have my own domain so I use aliases to see where things come from. e.g. shlasddot.org@example.com for here and companyname.TLD@example.com. That way I now if it is really from e.g. the bank or if it is somebody who is fishing. I will also see if they are selling my email address (and the reason I don't use eBay anymore) So if a mail comes from example.net and it was not send to example.net@example.com, I know there is an issue. 1) It is spam and the from address is fake. 2) They have sold the address. I will stop using that service 3) They have been compromised. Action will depend on the situation.
1 happens all the time. Standard spam. Not an issue. 2 happened once with eBay. Probably forgot to unselect an option after I logged in, or something sneaky like that. Legal, but still: fuck-em for being sneaky. 3 has not yet happened
So no, for me a password manager is not an option, because I might suddenly need it when all my devices are unavailable. e.g. transferring money when I am in another country and my phone stops working.
