I do not really watch TV or Movies either. I download them and have them running as background noise. I have replaced it with YouTube where I watch more and more. I am subscribed to 200+ channels. Most will have 15 minutes per week or so. Some have no new content in the last year and could be dead, for all I know.
The way I follow is by exporting the RSS feed and then watching it when the new ones come out. More variation than what I could get on TV. It goes from unboxing, to comedy (Maxim Brady for the win!) to tech to camera to car, travel, woodworking and other subjects.
If torrenting would not be possible from tomorrow on, I would not miss anything. Not really. That said: I torrent myself and I am aware that I do not have some right to see content. Just because things are available does not mean I should have access to them. If the owners of the Mona Lisa decide to hide it in a cellar, I can not say that I have a right to see it. If the writer of a book does not want it to be published, I do not have a right to demand it. I have the right to ask it and they have the right to say no. The fact that there are ways around it does not alter those rights.
So what is wrong are the laws that provide those tights. Especially the period of how long these rights are extended to.
I use flights.google.com for prices and I have yet to notice any difference in what theysay and what the site says. Nice thing is that some combined flights will have different prices, depending on where you book. An example https://goo.gl/flights/ngYD Via Vuelling : 84USD on Google, 70USD on the website Via Iberia : 107USD on Google. 95USD on the website.
As Google is indicative, it is a 25USD difference (30%) for the identical same flight. I always delete all cookies when I close my brower, so there is that. I only log in to book, not before.
Obviously there are different sites that can do it, like Kajak.com, that will check several sites at the same time. I never go to the booking site before I have found a price.
the results are likely virtually meaningless at the individual level. How any one person reacts to a tracker will not be predictable.
That will always be the case with anything that involves more than 3 things. This type of defense is used in e.g. people who deny climate change and also with those who do not like caccinations.
OTOH most people (here) will understand that an increqse in an average will be significant, as long as the test group is large enough. And by "most" I mean that there will be people who do not know it, Yet on average more people on/. do understand it than not. There will be people who think binary and for them it will mean if it is not everybody, than it is nobody. That is not how the real world works.
The issue with publishing things is often not that what they publish is wrong, but that people who re-print it will jump to conclusions.
Why should the music industry represent the same revenue per unit shipped as it has in the past? If it did that, it would represent literally dozens of times the profit.
Just FYI: A rhetorical question does not need an answer.
In some countries people work for pennies and that makes it possible to work on dumb phones. If the price for repairing is higher than the price of a new one, it becomes stupid to repair (fun, but nit financially interesting)
The export of waste to poor countries is exporting problems, not solutions. It is literally dumping waste on others.
And no, that African kid will NOT get a PC or the LED screen. It will get the fumes and the pollution of working in the chemicals of breaking up those PCs.
This is something people learn in kindergarten, or at least they should learn it there. You make a mess, you clean it up.
but when the idiots start rolling up with lawsuits because they didn't assemble their pen correctly or overdosed or used old medicine or got an air bubble into their veins or the cheap needle they used broke off into their leg or any of the infinite number of horrible things that will happen, they will be wiped out.
And you think that this never happens with an Epi-Pen?
And all this bullshit about "but it costs money to develop". Sure. How much? 1 million? 10 million? Even 100 million? Then why the need to make 1 Billion dollars from EVERY BLOODY YEAR for the last 5 years? What have they improved in the last 5 years that explains that price increase? And that 1 Billion is on the low side.
People use the Epi Pen wrong all the time and sometimes people die because of that. Just like people die from using a safety belt that would have lived if they had not.
And 'people taking contrl of their own health': if you don't want that, don't advertise medicine to untrained people. You can't have it both ways.
I have a 55" at the end of my bed. I do not notice any difference between 720p and 1080p. when I run them next to each other. I do see some difference when I run 480p, but not all that much. I have a 4K 28" monitor and I do not see any difference in running 4K and 1080p and even 720 is not really noticable, unless I run it at the same time. The reason I have the 55" 1080p is because it was cheap when I bought it. 500EUR including all taxes. The 4K screens I bought because I needed to replace my 2 1920x1200 VGA screens and buying 1920x1200 again would be about the same price.
There is a difference between computer usage and e.g. movies. For a computer I really like the minor difference in sharpness. With a movie I do not care that much as it all moves all the time anyway.
A great way to compare resolutions is Tears of Steal where you can download several versions. Bonus point if you make a script that plays things at random AND you are looking if the quality bothers you or not, not if you are looking if you know the quality.
Secondly, when (not if) this thing does not work as expected, some idiot is going to sue them for damages (despite - I imagine - the risks being very clearly stated
That is a top 10 list of misusage of the epi-pen. So that means it is NOT foolproof.
And yes, the price would be expensive,. But would it be 1 billion per year? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/... (And I am genrously rounding down) So they are taking HUGUE profits by just increasing the price. If I would do the same by offering a life saving thing, it would be called blackmail.
It would be even WORSE if it actually would cost them 1B per year to keep this up.
For them it is free money and I do not blame them. What I do blame is the system that is so utterly broken, people are unable to see the individuam broken pieces and there is no way to really solve it as the political system is just as broken.
Best start your history books and learn how to live in a feudal society. The names are a bit different. They are now called shareholders. They do not own your land, instead they own your data. What steps to take to get away from it? Read your history books, as history will repeat itself, although we will no know when.
It would be GOOD for them if the competition would be using it. What is released (I have read the FA) is the fact that studios need only one file and then the standard will determine what country gets what subtitles or language,
That way they will receive only one file with all the info and can automagically do all the processes. So they get a file and only need to determine when they make it available where. Now this needs to be sorted and verified manually and this will cause errors.
Besides just language settings, it will decide also other things. e.g. special version for airlines. Most likely also for different versions where words are replaced and/or images blurred or scenes taken out or replaces. So a version for kids and one for adults after 21:00. AZs this depends per country, having it automated is a nice thing to have.
And as there are not that many tools available, they make it OSS, so the demand will increase so they will save money. And what they want is that the studios are starting to use it. That way when they get a Disney movie, they receive it and be done with it. No need to have the many versions and make mistakes.
Like using a database to fill info for a website instead of making all pages separately.
The VPN ban was not their idea. I am sure they are willing to provide anybody who has money. It was forced upon them buy the MAFIAA companies. The reason is that they do not care if you buy in Europe, India or the US. They will be making around the same amount.
In fact I could imagine that they would encourage it and use it as a business model. "Even if you are in country A, you can subscribe in country B". Turks living in Germany would subscribe to Turkish Netflix instead of not subscribing at all.
Son, we live in a world that has walls. And those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago and you curse the Marines. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: that Santiago's death, while tragic, probably saved lives. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives...You don't want the truth. Because deep down, in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that wall. You need me on that wall.
We use words like honor, code, loyalty...we use these words as the backbone to a life spent defending something. You use 'em as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom I provide, then questions the manner in which I provide it! I'd rather you just said thank you and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you're entitled to!
A few years ago, I aw looking for a laser printer. I was sick of the cost of the deskjet. The reason was that I did not print enough.
I think that in the last year, my average is about 1 page per month. And those are basically train and plane tickets that are used as a backup in case my phone goes down when I need to check in or show my train ticket.
So I have decided not to buy a printer and instead print those 12 papers at the company I work at. I mail myself the PDF and print it.
If they would object (as it is officially forbidden) I could go to a copy center and print them there.
I could think that many people that have a printer don't actually need them. Peaople who print out every bill they get or every statement from the bank and are not aware that you could ask for a copy if you needed it. In the last three years there was no paper that I actually needed.
I can imagine this is a way out for the Dems. They are losing track due to the email situation and are looking for a way out. This could be a great way to do it. She pulls out. Bernie is pushed in as a last moment replacement. Because both parties should realize now that they have the worst possible candidate.
Yes, and in this case, the state government is serving the people by running a public university dedicated to teaching medical skills. Running an IT jobs program and spending more than necessary on IT staff does not serve the students or taxpayers of California.
The state should do BOTH.It should look after ALL. If this means that the school becomes more expensive, so be it.Because with the people out of a job, you will lose more than you gained by keeping them.
This is like not doing grocery shopping anymore. Sure you save a lot on groceries, but the budget of eating out will go up more than you save. Just because dad1 had the budget for groceries and dad2 for shopping does not mean it is a good idea moneywise.
If you live in an area where natural disasters are so frequent that you need to depend on radio, I would go with a phone that can resist a drop on the floor and is a LOT more resilient than the current line of phones. I would look at one of these or similar. Also unlocked, because you might need to switch SIM cards when your provider doesn't work, but another does.
So... if I have a business unit that's losing money and I tell it to either turn a profit or they'll be laid off, am I responsible when the employees cheat and break the law to save their jobs because there's no other way?
Yes. You are resposible that your employess follow the law. That is your function as a manager. You are not the older broder that can say 'stop hitting yourself'. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE. That is your job.
If people are not clear that they should not do it legally, you failed at your job. If the majority of people think it is ok to do it in an illegal manner, you failed at your job.
As amanager, you need to manage. It is in the fucking name of the job. If there is only one person doing it, it is his problem, if there are 5000, then it is not only your problem, but your fault. If you prosecute the people at the top, the problem will be solved. No need to hurt the person at the bottom.
I have worked in a company where such a thing happend and the moment they cut of the top, the problem was gone. From one day to the next, the problem was gone. Sales director (and 2 others) got fired and it was told that the practice they did before was illegal and that every person caught from now on would be fired. Clear words. Prolem solved.
That is a great idea. Do you want to be my business partner. I will send you details on how you can get involved. I would just need a small fee up front. Totally not a scam.
The difference is : 1) The driver does not change where he is going 2) The driver does not make a living from it
It is like making food for friends or family is not like having a restaurant. Hey, I should totally do that. I open a chain of places where people can order food from a menu. However it is NOT to eat. It is to look at, so I am totally not a restaurant and I do not have to follow the same rules. As they can order closed bottles to take pictures and they are NOT to drink, I can even give those to minors. As it is to promote art, I should even get some money from the different states.
I am going to call it "I am totally not a restaurant" so there will be no confusion. And if people eat the food you ask? Well, Crayola is not responsible for your kid eating the crayons, so why should I?
These are our conditions. We have altered them. Pray we don't alter them any further.
I do not really watch TV or Movies either. I download them and have them running as background noise.
I have replaced it with YouTube where I watch more and more. I am subscribed to 200+ channels. Most will have 15 minutes per week or so. Some have no new content in the last year and could be dead, for all I know.

Welcome to the new world order.
