That is not even about "save the children and the terrorists". It is telling that you are not allowed to drink as an adult.

This is also not to protect you as in "Cocaine is illegal, because it is bad" ad you can buy alcohol legally without an issue at a certain age.

The fact that Copyright is stupid the way it is now is a pity. I blame Mickey Mouse. Still not OK to do illegal things.

  9. I did not liked any of the Star Wars movies, exept Rogue One. That was an average movie. Not bad, but certainly not great. There where a lot of moments that I thought "What The FUCK!" like when they parked their vehicled several miles out. Seriously, fly closer and walk less and you would have been in time.
Or when they need to access something on top of a tower. On the outside. At the end of a platform. Many other flaws with it. That makes it an average movie. It was also to good to make it funny, like e.g. Plan 9 from outer Space.

Just nice, average standard fodder. And yet I thought it still better than all the rest.
So I might like Solo as well.

It didn't. Now what? I hear people talk about how things should be and what the law says and what the constitution says and so on.
These are mere words that where written down at some point in time and as such are meaningless. The words themselves have no impact. I can say "I want to be rich." I could even make a law that says I must be rich. Yes unless people act upon those words, they are meaningless.

The main issue is that there is no accountability. If I tell a kid that he is not allowed to take a cookie and he takes one, if there are no accountability, why would he not take another one.
If there IS accountability, e.g. he must go to bed early or no PC for a week, he might STILL eat the cookie, sure, but he knew what would happen.

Where we are now is that the NSA says and almost brags that they are spying on everybody and nothing happens. Nothing. So why should they stop? Why should they change? What do they gain if they change? Their work becomes harder to do. It will be more expensive. They already believe they are good citizens, so that is not a solution. And why do they think they are good citizens? Because if they are not, they would be held accountable.

Without accountability, all the words and laws are just interesting things for a writer to drive a plot, like the 3 laws of robotics.

I am able to add oil, but change it? I would need a place to work. I park in a public treet. I woul then need the tools to do so. Then I would need to find a place to get the old oil out. Next I might need to put in the new oil. And all the while I hope I did not make any mistakes anywhere so my motor does not blow up, because I bought the wrong oil.

I actually once tried to find information on how to change a light bulb. All the information I found was basically "Do not do it yourself. unless you know what you are doing, but if you still want to go on, here is how to do it." For some reason I had to take the whole lamp thing out and it was hard to access and hope the lights where still alligned at the end.

To me the car was (at that time) very much needed, so risking to break things should be also included. If you have no idea what you are doing and just follow guides on Youtube, you just hope what you did is safe. If not: Darwin will take care of it. I have seen enough videos about replacing brakes that I understand how it works. Doing that myself and endangering others is a whole other matter.

OK: Computer comparison: You could say to Granny to look up all about anti virus programs and hacking herself, or you could be a nice person and install the firewall for her. Then you explain some things on how to recognize spammers (how to top of the oil) and not only is she safer, you have less trouble resolving issues every day when it goes bad and I am receiving less spam because of it.

And all that because you (or somebody else) did what they do best.

That is all good and well, buty most people are unable to do so. Just like when most people find an issue with some Open Source Software (e.g. Firefox or Chromium or anything else) you can say "Well, solve the issue and then do a build and you can even do feedback so other will be helped.

In reality that is not a solution. I am sure that if I where to try and change my own oil, let alone do an actual repair, I would need to buy a new car.

And I could go to some non-brand garage, but I have no idea if they are ripping me off either. Do I actually NEED that oil change? I have no idea.

So aftermarket parts is a no-go for me. That only leaves the data of car repair cost estimates. With the non-knowledge, I would have no idea how acurate things would be.

If I have an issue with my car, I should be able to go somewhere and not be ripped of, just as if a car repair shop should not be ripped off when he has an issue with his PC. You could use multiple methods, including having somebody at the door counting. Most stores will use a special doormat with a counter on it. However the you still only know the average time people are in the store.

e.g if 2 people enter and one leaves after 1 minute and 1 after 9, the average is 5 minutes, yet the difference is big. Having a system that sees a guy in a red t shirt and one in a blue one will give already better results. Still not perfect as he could put on a coat, but still better.

Once you have this data, you can start looking for reasons as to why people do that they do and try to influence that.

I am well aware of the methods that are possible. The question remains if this is possible with a RPi for people. This pure from a technical point of view. I have seen the data analysis of traffic where it is possible to follow people, trucks, bikes, cars and busses. So the technology is available and open source.
