File JAVA and its promise of platform independance away with all those AT&T commercials from the mid 90's that promised you would soon be able to check out and read entire books via the internet, make video phone calls, and perform remote heart surgery with their new technology.
All that stuff is possible now, unless you're referring to how long it took to do it.
Interesting point, but I'm sure that the intent is to create a device that you wear on the hand and uses the fingers as a speaker of sorts, *not* to implant the cell phone in your hand. In that event, you just take it off your hand (or wrist or whatever) and put it on theirs. Shouldn't be too difficult I think.
The idea of putting a finger in your ear would improve audio quality, would it not? I mean, when you plug your ear with your finger, it blocks out everything but low frequency sounds for the most part. Couldn't that make conversations, even in loud places, quite feasible?
Just a little sidenote: what answer is that stupid guy expecting to his question? "Nope, can't hear you now." That's like saying "Whoever's not here, raise your hand." or "Are you asleep?"
When are we going to get some sort of distributed network for MMO? It seems logical at some level to have nodes or whatever that spread the load. This also helps data redundancy by not allowing DDOS attacks on servers.
Or maybe I'm just a total maroon and have no clue what I'm talking about.
Sorry for the pun. I was never a fan of the games (a little slow for my liking) but the art was always top notch. I would gladly flip through this book while at my local Indigo and ooh and aah every picture. Heck, if there's enough info in there, I might even buy it.
But that brings up an interesting issue: this work has already brought a profit to the development staff, and as a result, the people doing the concept art. Would it be fair to people who haven't been paid already for the content of a book to buy this and give another revenue stream? This sounds almost like an RIAA tactic (not to sound like a troll). IMHO, I'm much more satisfied when they provide concept art on the disc itself, either through an immediately available library (Metal Slug comes to mind) or as unlocked images as I progress through the game and care more about the characters and plot (I forget specifically what game had this, but I had it!).
We all know what's going to be said. The watch is easily stolen. Has been for years and years. That's what makes it so appealing to criminals. This isn't going to catch on and for good reason. The security on these devices sounds like nothing at all.
Where do they go from Quake 3? Quake 3 brought the mainly online FPS game to the forefront of gaming, but Unreal "X" has been outpacing them for a few years now. What is going to get me excited about Quake 4 with HL2 and D3 coming out?
Frozen indicates below 0 celsius, solid or solidified indicates solid above 0 celsius. At least that's what I think.
Way to /. lugnet, you insensitive clod! What, is their server made out of lego bricks or something?

A tomato is a plant, not an animal.
What's your point? He never mentioned wood.
Ah yes, but as one of today's finest scientists once said, "mi mi mi mi mi MI mi mi mi mi!" Particularly true for this situation, I think.
Let's hope this doesn't get patented too much so that it becomes widespread.

2000. It looks a lot nicer and fits in with how we do our decades.
A misleading, FUD headline on Slashdot? Stop the presses :)
Favorite phoenix/fire joke? That's a joke in itself :)
"What's that in your hand?"
"Citizens are raging against phones Lazlow!"
Your sig isn't helping matters you know...
Holy shit. I'd bid if it weren't pick up only.

Just my opinion.
Thankfully we've all heard of deviantart.com (sorry, I have no clue how to post urls at this point in time.), another amazing resource for art.
By the way, that second picture is fscking amazing.

"I want all the karma from this story."
"What? I haven't gotten +5 yet?"
"Why is everyone else getting +5?"
Summary of news story: "Ummm... don't know, didn't RTFA."
You make an excellent point. CNN *would* be better with question marks in the titles!
That doesn't change the fact that they are RIAA affiliated, making them at least in part an "RIAA label".

I haven't seen that movie you insensitive clod!
Oh shit, my head asplode.
Don't forget about the powerpad. The DDR control is alternate, but not original.
