I guess when you've thrown enough money at the problem and it still hasnt been solved, the next logical thing would be chairs. Either that or developers.
This could be one of the biggest mergers in computer technology, and all the comments I seem to find are OMFG ATI LINUX DRIVERS?!(not all... but you get the picture). This has nothing to do with linux. Honestly if you need the drivers THAT badly, go find a relative with a windows computer and an equally powered nvidia card and swap it. Dont buy ati products if you want to use linux. In reality, you wouldnt buy a moped to drive on the highway, so dont go bitching when it doesnt go past 80km/h on the linux highway. (Dont take this as ati products are slow, take in the "right tool for the job" lesson).
Its not malware, It actually made my computer run faster! When it first installed it showed a red bar of how slow my computer was running, it did its thing, and now everytime i see a nice big green bar showing how fast it runs! I cant close it, but I dont mind. I think firefox got less secure in the last release too, i get pop ups from it all the time even when im doing nothing on my desktop?
When buying my new laptop, I was heavily considering buying the 13" macbook. It all looked really good on paper, but after seeing the large amount of issues, I decided against the macbook. I really have no need for OSX, and am perfectly fine with just windows, so i headed over to the local futureshop. I picked up a hp pavillion dv1635, thin and light, huge screen, 30%+ specs of that in the macbook, at the same price, as well as a 3 year over the counter warranty. That means for me I can 'accidentally' brick my laptop during a bios firmware update in 2 years from now, and get a new one. 1700$ CAD is a great investment for this machine. As well I prefer a local warranty policy because they are less picky about it, and you can pull a lot more social engineering tactics to make your investment worthwhile.
I watched an interview on channel9 with some of the windows server developers, and one major thing they said they have completed was using terminal services to transparently deliver applications to a desktop. IE: Run your business whatever software on some terminal service provider server in server room x, but have the application act like any other normal one on your desktop, like word or excel would act. This in itself is quite the feat, and I REALLY look forward to using this (use a less powerful, quiet, cool computer, and keep the power of my monster loud and hot machine elsewhere, while still utilizing it.
Unfortunatly I fall into this category, I use illegitament versions of dreamweaver, flash, photoshop, illustrator, and many other apps to make a living. Ill let you do the math but id need to take out a 2nd mortgage on my home to pay for all the software I use. There should be a more reasonable ratio involved with software prices. It would be difficult to enforce and not specifically fair if I pay 100$ for macromedia studio and buddy down the street has to pay $1000, but expecting thousands of dollars for some software isnt exactly "fair" either, therefore I pirate it.
Who honestly has a real reason to install and use the gtk on windows? It looks god awful, is slow as molasses, and takes up a shitload of memory. This looks like one of those solving a problem that didnt need solving situations.
Wow, Are most microsoft employee's this dedicated to their jobs? Posting replies to technical questions and comments at 8:30 on a saturday night really says something about the people who work there, and how they take their jobs./me hopes to join the ranks one day...
Xenogears is one of the hardest rpgs ive ever played. I have not yet beaten it to date. That aside, in the psuedo rpg arena, hats off to Brave Fencer Musashi! That game had some pretty cheesy characters and dialogue, but it was hella fun.
Dont mean to be a little off topic here, and please dont mod me down for it, but where/who comes up with all the dept names for each article? Some of them are VERY witty.
Ha. And the surgeon general says that smoking is the silent killer, methinks some cigarrete packages need to have big pictures teeth with crosby molasses on them...
If you actually read the article before posting you would know that its a woman doing the mod. That being said, I think the article focussed a little to much on that aspect. OMFGBBQ FEMALE MODDERS!

So what layer do guinea pig eye-sockets reside on the osi model? layer1?
Yep, nothing like showing up 8 hours late to a board meeting covered in sweat. Save the planet. Just not in my backyard.

The network stack wasnt re-written post-beta, it was one of the most significant changes in longhorn next to the new driver model.
Getting slashdotted might have something to do with it. Youve got the whole slashdot population clicking on that (ipod haters vs ipod lovers)
