I think that any law a state makes must be applicable. Ruling the use of P2P as a civil crime means (as long as I understood) that the law enforcers must sue every single person using P2P, without any neccessity of a complaint. Therefore it seems that the P2P usage is now in the same category as drug dealing and homicide. Well anybody with a pinch of sense can tell that this new law can't be afforded by any state: The cost of bringing any single person to the court is way too much.
Probably this regulation will hang over the heads of the people and law enforcers will use at just at will. This will give the possibility to argue that the law is not apllied to everyone as equals, which is a basic virtue of any democratic country.
The tax part is just a silly detail. We have the same kind of tax in Germany. As a rule of thumb, if any new law is somehow related with some taxing, even how absurd it may be, the law himself can be thrown away or denounced but the tax part will stay.:)

Google to Buy Opera?
·
· Score: -1, Flamebait
Well, If I were MS, my browser would suck so I would buy Opera and then kill it, to gain some playspace for my own browser. In case of Google, where the team probably could develop a browser as good as Opera in a few weeks, there are not many points for buying it. Perhaps there are some patents Opera may have, so Google could get the patented technology, assemble it in a more capable browser (mozilla code probably) and throw it out as GBrowser. Sounds OK to me..
Google's engineers have decreed that familiar email practices are no longer useful, and have substituted approaches they prefer, arrogantly denying users any choice.
And I am thankful to that people, because the average "desktop experience" always sucks.
Arrogantly denying users any choice of familiar practices is the best way to make something new and fresh and revolutionary (if you're lucky enough). It may end good or bad, but it won't change the innovative value of things made by Gmail team.
They should have used a few of this machines as webserver..:) But no, people take best of best hardware for gaming and outdated crap for LAMP-Servers, so they can crash at with first wave of potential customers, a very intelligent way of exploiting the 15-Minutes-Slashdot-Fame.
Windows keys. Metallic cover. Curves. What will come next, a thinkpad without trackpoint? The Thinkpad brand was powerful because you could not buy it in a supermarkt, it was designed to be stable and trustable. Place it in consumer electronics and it will suck like the rest.
Another big problem is, one can't just install/configure the server and go away and be sure that will run without problems. Samba is mostly OK, unless users or other software mess with file permissions etc. and somehow users will always find a way to mess with it (murphy) most probably at friday afternoon, so the admin can sit the weekend in the server room and amuse himself with all geekish things all admins always do.
Users are to be taken as serious threat and I don't think that Samba protects itself good enough from user intervention. A very basic Samba installation to share a single printer can crash down the whole server due big temporary files filling the HDD because of a moron that chooses to use some other printer driver. OK, that is not directly a problem of Samba, but if it is there to manage the sharing of the printer, it has to have a better talk with the printserver and other system resources. On the other side, such problems may be the only way to keep a job as an admin in the near future.
+ my two cents
People working in Disneylands (meaning costumed ones) are underpaid and most of them suffer from bad hygene conditions of the costumes. In Disneyland Paris there was a Goofie cursing people around with a very audible voice. Poor guy. I would not like to wear a suit like that in a sunny day.
So, this means your "christian rock listening clean shiny families" don't come to buy at your store, because they go online and download pirated music. Isn't this a bit weird?
you live in Taiwan and can buy with OEM prices there. Also, solution: Outsource PC-Assembly lines, make cases as small as possible for cheaper transport-per-pc. That's all.
Yeah.. but family MATTERS!

1. Predict Market
2. Act on Prediction
3. Cause Market Impact
4. Need New Prediction!
5. ????
6. Profit
This seems to be the way for Google to kill Microsoft. :)

Keeping multiple user bases is a pain, so I would be very greateful for out-of-box LDAP Integration. And please please a better design for SWAT.

i don't get it. Can someone tell me which are the good guys?
This kind of sounds like freeman suits.. they could use electricity gained from walking to recycle urine to water.

Slashdotted so quickly? :(
It doesn't matter what SS is meant for. Human beings tend to "not working" if they get paid anyway.
I don't have any facts, but have a belief that most of the low-end cameras like Canon's S and A series could be "better" programmed.

.. can not .. *drunk*
Man pages are boring. There are pictures one can paint.
