I did up a project on sourceforge.net a few years back to sync my computers with a GPS http://atomicgpsclock.sourceforge.net/. Below is a log of the activity, normally there is a +/- 0.016 or so second instability, but 18:59:59 EST (or 23:59:59 UTC) the Navy made a 1 second adjustment to the GPS system, and it's vibible in the log at the next scheduled sync (in bold)

I sure hope NASA won't ax this project due to budget cuts. Even though Voyager I and II were never meant to go this far and have no specific tools for exploring this part of space, some science can still be gained by monitoring trajectory and velocity. For mankind to even get this far again it will take 30 to 40 years.
I had the same thing happen to me at a po-dunk BP in Michigan last week. I couldn't believe it, and she actally looked at the reciept to make sure it matched! Must be some type of new policy at gas stations.
Looks like a Kernel "Panic Struck" the server!
I hope George Lucas doesn't feel this infringes upon his Star Wars franchise and decide to send the lawyers to them. You have to admit Star Wars is a huge money maker for him and the studio, and anybody trying to make some money off of it better have some good lawyers.
If I were going to build on of those I'd do it in something a little less conspicuous, say maybe a pair of binoculars. A good pair can do range calculations, etch the lenses with cross hairs. You're less likely to get shot at looking someone through binoculars than a high powered rifle thing.
The best thing TiVo could do is saturate the market with their hardware, TiVo boxes, TiVo PC cards... And then open source all the software, broadcasting to the public the software is open source, can be modified, and do what you want with. They can still sell their subscription service for scheduling, because most people will not tweak their boxes. This will take content/media management responsibilities and legalities away from TiVo allowing the user to determine how and what to do with the media.
I have a Digital AlphaBook, the first 64 bit notebook computer! 266 MHz Alpha Processor (EV4 I think) 128 Meg RAM, and runs OpenVMS! Best of all I got it back in 1998. Nobody was even thinking 64 bit desktops back then. And you know what, it still rocks. I've rebuilt the battery pack and still use it today. You should see poeples face when VMS is booting up and it goes into the DEC windows manager.
If Microsoft made an official version of Microsoft Linux, that would kill it. Especially if they introduce IE into it and tightly integrate it into the OS.
A Hummer H1 is going to have more impact on the road surface than an Prius, or Mini. It is road impact that damages the roads and costs money to repair. Heavy vehicle = poor gas mileage = more gas = more taxes, this system already works. It is unfare to tax the light fuel efficent vehicle for the damage heavy trucks and SUV's cause. What next, force everybody to put a GPS on their bike and shoes so they can be taxed for the sidewalks! Not only is this unfare, it reaks of big brother.
And every channel is either GNAA or goatse!
It's bad enough having your Windoze box owned, maybe things will get better once Joe Six Pack TV starts getting is TV owned and everybody realizes how weak M$ is on security.
Now if only someone would setup a P2P server with 100 gig of songs and plug it into SCO's network for the RIAA to find...
RIAA sues SCO for copyright infinement, SCO counter sues for copyright infringement because they think RIAA is using Linux.
--- Just throwing a little gas on the fire!
I'm guessing that the RIAA is only trying to sue IP address that are in the US, since the long grabby hand of the RIAA can't reach across borders. So that means everybody outside the US and any other country that has RIAA type SS stormtroopers is safe.
Saw the nice buildings by the water and thought "Crap, looks like the Chernobyl plant". See for your self at "Google Maps" http://maps.google.com/?t=h&om=0&ie=UTF8&ll=51.386 888,30.124683&spn=0.024961,0.058365
This is good since I always wonder how many back doors are in Cisco routers for Law Inforcement purposes.
That'll be good for his wireless reception. BANG!
Now that would be a million dollar web page!

I remember using OS9 with my TRS-80 Color Computer. It had a windows like GUI and used a mouse, all on a 8 bit processor.
If I had points, I'd mod this up! The video is great, and it's on topic! Who would have imagined, a music video about robots and stairs!

I predict that if enough people put Preparation-H on Steve Balmer he to will disappear in 5 years!

Just this Halloween some cheap skate put AOL CD's into my kids bags. What makes this any better? At least everybody in the world knows what AOL is!
