    Actually, CS 101 is data types and algorithms. Earning my CS degree taught me little of input validation.
    Funnily enough, in my first CS course in college (COMP 110) the professor made sure we did input validation. Yes, the focus of the course was algorithms, but since most of the assignments involved input he had us implement some simple checking and validation.

    Regarding the extensive debate over its m/d/y or d/m/y or d/m/yy or whatever the hell your calendar prefence is: WHO FETHING CARES? The entire point of this is that, by one particular format, the next few days are 286, 386, and 486. PERIOD. Yes yes, everyone here is perfectly aware that there were other days that fit, and that these days don't work out in some formats, but for Christ's sake does it matter? In one format, the upcoming days remind us of CPUs. Can't we just leave it at that?

    I once saw a quote on Bash.org along these lines - Get all the tech-support people in the world to join together and form a kind of union. The union would have one purpose, and one purpose only: Every month, the members all pay a due. The dues go into one large pot. Now, anytime one of the members has to deal with a REALLY obnoxious/annoying (l)user who just doesn't get it, the money in the pot can be used to hire a hitman. Sounds good, no?
