I love watching CSI as it is one of the more interesting crime shows, as well as the fact that it puts "science" in a more exciting role than "mad scientist", or crazy experiments.

However, the one thing that bothers me the most about the show above all others, is the fact that they like to do autopsies in the dark. They have the autopsy theatre in the basement with no lights on except for a dim bulb hanging over the body. How do they expect to see any markings on the body that way?

When I used to work as a researcher doing autopsies, we had a insanely bright room with white walls and lights that were brighter than the sun. Also, over the body we had a giant fume hood to take the smell away. And for forensic autopsies (which I have only observed), they usually have hoses washing over the bodies to keep the maggots from climbing over the area you are trying to examine.

Other than that, I love the show.

Instead of poking holes into a perfectly good lid, why don't you lay thin wires across the opening of the jar and run a small current across it. That way, once they try to enter the jar, they get zapped!

It works! I have a fly swatter that has metal wires in place of the swatter which works the same way.

    *flashback*
I think we were 5 years old playing on my friend Scott's front lawn. Merely throwing them across the lawn was not challenging enough for us, so we decide to throw them over our heads backwards. This was not obviously well thought out, albeit it was a riot. This other kid Joel (or Jowol as I pronounced it) came running over to see what was the commotion. He comes at the perfect time to catch a downwards spiralling lawn dart with the top of his skull.

The lawn dart ends up sticking straight up from the top of his head, firming embedded into his cranium. He didn't start crying till he saw the blood stream down his face. Scott's father comes running out, picks the kid up and runs him back to the house, lawn dart still sticking out of his head.

Needless to say, we never saw those lawn darts again. Whatever happened to Joel, I'll never know. Moved away that summer.
