Everything I've seen lately (and checked many places) basicly says "you're 20!? HAHAHA you're fucked!". I was hoping to goto university.. hey guess what, I probably won't be able to untill I'm nearly 30 because I'll never have the money being that I have to save my ass off, pay for other peoples pensions and get no support funding my education what so ever (let alone needing this funding to get more money to pay for these old people).
The list is full of bullshit that doesn't account for anything. Things like "more nurses", well yea more nurses with lower standards.. nice that.. being paid less.. nice that. All these sort of things.

I think most people would agree IP isn't wrong, it's just being enforced incorrectly. If they made it so IP lasted say 10 years most people would have no problem. I can't think of many things which still sell as well ten years later unless they are vital to society (toilet paper, car fuels etc.). It would give music authors enough time to make a shit load of money before it ran out and most people don't want ten year old music unless it's something inbred into the culture or totally unknown and unavaible to buy any more.

The funny thing is GTA:SA infact has a VERY positive story line.. it's shocking but true. CJ spends the first part of the game trying to rebuild his life after being put in prison, the second half of the game is trying to make something of himself (and get rid of drug dealers around his home), then the final part is sorting out some corrupt policemen who have been taking advantage of him.
GTA:SA hadn't had a lot of press about it being positive. I really don't like the gang culture at all, but the gang element drops away within the first ten or so missions and it turns more into "CJ and his family (brother in law, sister mostly), just trying to make themselvs something".
Maybe GTA isn't suitable for your kid, but lets be honest. In this day and age there is very little left in the world that isn't corrupt. People repeatedly try and screw you over, they're all out for number 1. Sooner or later a kid has got to understand this. I'm not sure how old he is so maybe he is too young for GTA, but remember GTA is the real world in a very honest way. The violence is rather cartoonist in ways (where one guy guns down an army, steals a tank then drives round the city), it's parody more then straight out violence. If you look at GTA as anything but a parody it seems really vile, but when you get that the whole game is just there to mess around, have fun and it seems less dangerous.
Plus to be completely honest if I had kids I'd rather he was playing cops and robbers (GTA style even) then sword fighting. Swords can be emulated using sticks or whatever and quite dangerous, guns involve no contact and any little kid can go "BANG!".
I don't support the RIAA but they are following the letter of the law in their lawsuits. Courts encourage out of court settlements to save time. The RIAA are abusing this yes, but it's legal. Where as this woman's computer has commited a crime, no matter how small it is a crime.

Mystic quest (AKA Seiken Densetsu 1 on the gameboy and SNES) had the label "FF gaiden" under it. It's officially a final fantasy spin off. But they decided it stood alone well enough to cut the series free to be it's own series. The saga series is the same.
vice city is a huge step up from 3, as is mario 3 to mario 1 (all but a totally new game in both style and abilities which are no longer fireball or jump).
FF is infact the polar opposit of a sequal factory. If you play the full series of spin offs you'll be shocked at how different they are. From heavily turned based down to full on action RPGs (Secret of mana series is a FF gaiden).
I'm not one to support FF but try playing crystal chronicles and telling me it's not totally different from the main timeline.
I think we should look at the latest fashion magazines.. people have been told so much "This is cool, if you're like this people will like you" that they start to believe it. After this all they have to do is put these puppets in the right clothes and subconciously it says "I need this stuff to be cool!".
