How the hell can you have hardware issues when you make the PCs and put the OS on them yourself? Just add the support for your hardware to Ubuntu/the Linux kernel and ta dar, no more problems.
I mean Jesus.. how hard is it to only support hardware you know works?
If they do this right I am so in. Bloodlines was one of the best games I've ever played (except the bugs.. ahem) and to be quite frank I would kill for a decent sequal of any sort. If they get this right it could be an amazing game, but if they get it wrong it'll just turn into a social point (I expect it'll be set in a BIG city) where all sides work together instead of a vicious street war as all factions try to rule the city and avoid vampire hunters.
So, less grinding and more grand scale PvP and I'm in. Maybe even make it so it works like GTA:SA did with gang wars but set areas are No-PvP so newbies will be safe before they attempt to wander the streets and find better gear which will only be found in neutral zones.
"We know a guy of 30-35years was looking at anti-freedom/love/justice/whatever material in this net cafe on Thursday at 3pm, would that be you sir? No? Well they all say no at first..."
While that 20 year old woman is giggling from her window as she beat "the system" yet again.
At least if it's accurate you're okay if you behave (no I am not supporting it, just saying), where as if it's inaccurate.. well fuck, better odds on a coin flip.
Why is The article uses Digg, Wikipedia, and eBay as examples and muses whether their models could be applied more widely in a different colour to the rest of the text?
and what about those of us with muscle problems who struggle to stand some days eh? How are you ment to squat in complete agony where as sitting is relaxed and causes no pain?:P
Can Slashdot PLEASE attempt not to be Fark? This is not what Slashdot is about, this is what Fark is about.
Slashdot used to be insightful and interesting, now it's trolling, unfunny memes and crappy blog posts used to gain Google ranks more than provide content.
"Kids like to play the same games adults do" and "Not all games are about violence and beating hookers" is not news. Any real gamer (aka not some FPS kiddy who thinks Nintendo is for kids) can tell you that violence doesn't make a game fun. It can be part of a fun game, but senseless violence without a good system behind it will suck for all age groups.
I doubt there are many people who would argue that Tetris is one of those all time greats that everyone has played at some point. Yet the most violent thing in Tetris is a line of bricks (blocks, tertites or whatever you call them) disappearing.
So why the hell are we acting like games can only be fun if they are rated 15/18 (or whatever Americans use as their adult oriented entertainment label).
I'm a Linux user, I know what is can do, but I'm playing devils advocate. If it doesn't work 100% of the time, people will be upset and not go "oh it's Linux" it will be "this crappy thing only works some times! why am I bothering!?"
you see that is the ironic thing. I switched to Linux for it's network card support. The software you had to run to config the card it in windows crashed within 10 seconds of booting. I used an Ubuntu live CD and my cards worked fine, I configed my new router and and then installed it. Ubuntu was absolutely wonderful compared to Windows.
Rose ends up in an alternative dimension the Doctor can't travel to at the end of Season 2. It wasn't a half bad ending for her, but she's basically a wreck cause her life collapsed and she's left alone with no way of contacting The doctor.
"Human daleks" are true to the original Dalek concept? Well fuck me, I'm so Glad Daleks are now so accepting of human beings, I mean it's not like they spent the last billion or so years trying to wipe out the entire universe.
Oh and Daleks have been ruined, it went from "Evil, going to kill you all!" to "oh look, it escaped again, last Dalek alive, wonder how it'll get a few more this time" Rose had access to the entire span of the universe, she saw, knew and controlled everything, then completely erased them, but nope still survive.
Daleks lost their class when they became cartoon villians.
Little Britain needs killing though. It's the same crappy joke repeated each week. Oh look wheel chair guy, bet he runs away, oh look fat slag, bet she talks shit.
Good comedy evolves and changes, not changes the sets and props each week. Little Britain is the lowest of the low brow comedy and is about on par with reality TV for it's entertainment value.
I for one am glad, Season 3 has been absolutely terrible so far. Daleks are every where (Why do Daleks have to be in EVERY SERIES!? They aren't scary when they appear every other week) and they keep "killing" (or removing in some form) the doctor to make Martha comes across as a "strong woman type", when instead it just feels forced.
I suspect Season 4 will be as bad as Season 3 and by then the viewing figures will have dropped. I mean as much fun as "Evil monster chances the doctor around an Earth based place" is, whatever happened to going to alien worlds? It's like the Last 3 seasons have completely forgot the TARDIS can travel to places other than space stations and Earth.
What about the recent news of the LJ fanfic writers flare up? LJ have deleted a massive amount of accounts and well known communities (some 5 years and older) over night with no explination or reason given.
This really comes into play with guild wars. A busy town feels too busy, it's full to the brim of people and you feel kinda lonely in the crowd. Where as in a small town you feel part of a small community and have an identity, you notice others. It's very strange to exprience, since right after you're going to be in a very small party or alone with bots.
In some ways I agree with you but at the same time other people are one of the problems we have to consider.
Everyone today is trying to be the best and will lie, cheat or steal to get there. This leads to people making up lies and living fake lives (on credit cards for example), so the people next door do the same to try and keep up with him, until both people are living so far out of their means that both will collapse in on themselves.
If we were all just honest, we wouldn't be setting artifical levels that end up near killing us just to keep up with the Jones (who are also killing themselves because of these levels).
How do you support one another when we will continue to raise the bar until we get to this point again?
I can't stand half the shit they put on today, the BBC used to be an amazing set of channels, but since we got like 15 BBC channels they've made BBC1 and 2 a laggy BBC3/4 and then filled the rest of the time with unfunny crap.
But then as I recall the BBC really went down hill after the whole "ZOMG FIRE HIM OR ELSE!" shit from labour when a guy got fired for pointing out the truth in Labour's "war on terrapins" or whatever bullshit term they are using this month to abuse the public. Maybe when the director general was kicked out they replaced him with a stupid lacky who finds this stuff appealing?
Life on Mars had a really crappy ending in both seasons though.
Season 1's ending felt "oh fuck, we have a real ending but need a second season" and Season 2's ending felt like a cop out, they never explained anything and just cut it off as it came close.
I doubt that very much, but if you're right (and want another monkey to take it for a spin) slap me on the beta list, I'd love to see myself proven wrong.:)
Any hints of how this will work except 3 stories set up and you follow one or the other?
I see no problem playing single player in a MMORPG. If I don't feel social why should I be?
You should try Guild wars, it's a MMORPG with a single player focus.
I like single player games too, but I have to admit I enjoy MMORPGS because there is so much to explore, which I can do solo :)
safe areas would be for respawning and newbie areas. It prevents killing newbies and would force you to survive in the wild or a long trip to return.
Hardware issues..?

Isn't that worse?

I want to know how this will work on any system when Linux is imfamous for it's lack of support for some hardware.
I can see a use for this, but it seems a broad claim for any Linux distro.
You gain early access to the game, for free in exchange for you giving them feed back.
It's a win/win situation for all involved.
No Us in WAAAGH.
God I feel like a nerd.
