  1. sounds good on Replacing TCP? · · Score: 2, Interesting

the real issue with any new technology like this is will it be accepted as a standard? For that to happen it needs to be relyable, easy to get (free), and hard to exploit. This looks to have all the above so in 5 to 10 years maybe we'll see this implmented everywhere.

  2. has this guy never heard of adapting? on Hannu H. Kari Gives The Internet 2 More Years · · Score: 5, Insightful

I think it's safe to say at the first sign of problems around 6 gillion nerds world wide would start working on fixes and sending them to anyone who might possibly give a damn. Given the number of users, even IF this is a problem, it could be solved quickly.

Imagine if most of these products starting using a simple Linux system where you could reuse all kinds of crazy crap. If you can see image noise on a normal 3 megapixel image (assuming its somehwere around 1024x768 or greater) then its probally pretty bad. They mention it twice too. I wonder if it has anything to do with the ceramic lens which seems to be the only interesting thing about the camera. Otherwise it seems pretty average in about every category.

Recently I bought one of the new Rio Forges and it also has problems. Despite being sold as a "sport" model it shuts down regularly during use and Rio refuses to admit any problem with the design despite several pages of experiences just like mine on their forums. I strongly discourage anyone from buying Rio products without an extended warrenty. Here is a good forums to read about Rio products: http://www.rioworld.org/yabbse/index.php?board=16

We used to lead in this kind of technology only now we just follow well after everyone else makes it safe. Same situation with medical treatments. It's getting really sad how easily the stupid people in society can play to the media and other people just eat it up with no idea what really happened. Whenever I hear three mile island compaired to chernobyl I want to smack someone. Nuclear power IS the future. Period. The sooner the idiot masses get over their hystarical fear of somthing they don't understand the better. It sickens me when I see "an expert" (ie someone who is really a business major and giving a psudoscience speech on nuclear power) trying to argue with someone who's spent their entire lives working with and designing nuclear rectors. And of course the media will side with the eco freaks because they love to create panic and anger so you'll watch their channel more.

I'm not sure how well devoloped the British rail system is but hardly anyone in the US uses them. Specialized markets like bus (short range travel) or train (long range) will most likey be cheaper than anything like this which tries to move in on two areas at once. The duel logistical costs will almost certainly drive up the prices to uncompedative levels.
