But the pretty graphics and colors! Lowering quality look bad. I already turned off volumetric. I can live without FSAA. I can't figure how to lower the anisotropic in the game. I even disabled via NVIDIA's driver (no changes in Crysis).
OK. After playing Crysis single player demo, I only got 9-10 FPS average (0 FPS minimum!) with high settings (I refuse to go lower, did turn off motion blur which drove me nuts) according to the two batch benchmark files. I just upgraded my system last December 2006 too! That video card was expensive (almost 300 bucks) enough!:(
My current computer specifications can be found here: http://alpha.zimage.com/~ant/antfarm/about/computers.txt (I do not like to and want to OC; doesn't help when I have physical disabilities since I can't open my case to reset CMOS, fiddle with the hardwares, etc.). I use the latest NVIDIA drivers (including betas), 1280x1024 native resolution on my 19" LCD monitor (helps to use lower native resolutions since I don't need larger one:)), no FSAA if FPS is needed, and 16X anisotropic (no anisostropic didn't even help for Crysis).
Is it worth getting a newer video card (e.g., 8800) to help the newer games' FPS like Crysis, World in Conflict, C&C3 (not too choppy like the first two), etc.? I do not want to upgrade my motherboard, CPU, RAM, etc. at this time. I am not sure where's the bottleneck is. Video card? My CPU? Something else?
goScreen is awesome. It's not pretty, but it works. Light resources too. I even ran it in Windows 9x years ago! It's not free, but cheap and free upgrades.
I am not surprised by that. Vista is a big change. Remember Mac OS 9 to X? Companies would release newer versions to be compatible with the newest OS releases like Vista.
I didn't notice any echoes where I sat. Where did you sit (My friends and I were in J 118 and 119)? We just didn't have a good view (had to watch the left monitor and the conductor a lot. Hollywood Bowl is better (isn't that 2005, not 2006)? Interesting. I didn't think the audio would be better in an outdoor environment.
Did anyone go to it? My friend and I did. We're old school gamers (80s). It was mostly fun especially in the new Nokia Theater (second day of its opening; don't think all 7,000 seats were taken/sold out), but our seats sucked (front on the right; map seems to be inaccurate but I noticed the front has lower numbers than the back in the orchestra area). It was nice to hear all the old favorite game music (e.g., Rastan, Frogger, Outrun, Gauntlet). There were problems as well like Frogger didn't work in a competition, very crowded, no preshow events (what the heck?), computer and lights went out before we went in, etc. I'm glad I didn't pay more than 50 bucks (30 bucks + fees + $5 parking) for this event since anything higher is a ripoff IMO.
... I remember my sixth grade when I had a teacher who was a geek type with high-tech stuff. We had Apple ][ and IIe in the classroom. He had a cool Apple logo turtle robot that was basically a plotter on big paper on the floor. Did anyone have those before?
There's only one problem with that. Multiplayer games that check for tampered datas. I remember using cracks/noCD/noDVD patches for games like Battlefield, and I get kicked off because of modified files.:(
And some games hate these Demon Tools. They refuse to install and/or run if they exist. I remember DOOM 3, C&C3, etc. did that because I had old Alcohol datas in my registry (uninstalled long ago too!).
Not funny. I have Nager's Syndrome that consists multiple physical disabilities. :(

Thank you in advance.
We seriously need to get off this planet to start a new one. :(
Nice plan. Do you have a blog on this? Others and I would love to check your progress on this. :)

How much are you paying for your T1? I am surprised you even bought it for residential usage. Unless you're sharing its cost or running a business.
Who is Neilson? [grin]
I think this was OK. What if I don't want to use the gifts? Most of my gamer friends already have HL2 and episode 1.
This 2D version will give you an idea how Portal works. After that, get the 3D version. :)
Is there an online video of this? I can't find it via video.google.com. Maybe someone can upload it? :)
Nice. Good luck, man. I hope it doesn't ciome to you. And me (live on a giant hill with plenty of plants and trees). :)
In Windows XP SP0/SP1 in VMware v3/v4, changing the direct raw CD-ROM drive (changed the host's physical drive) did the same thing! Pissed me off.

I heard this on the news radio last night. Is this reverse 911 thing for the whole country or is it just local (e.g., San Diego)?
Also, it scares me if someone finds a way to hack it and misuse it to scare people like this incident.
I am not surprised by E4All after E3 went byebye. Which side were you at Nokia theater? Left or right? My friend and I were in J row at 118-119.

Yeah, I e-mailed the Webmaster about this.
But, how do we know if RA's codecs aren't vulnerable? It has ActiveX plugin too.
Does PETA protect ants' rights too? :)

The newer driver versions seems better than in the past to me, even on old Radeon 9x00 AIW cards.
