I agree that saying that Apple invented the GUI is wrong, however, this is a common thing to do in the IT world.
Just because many do it doesn't excuse it, the statement is plain wrong. This myth that Apple was the creator of the GUI needs to be killed once ad for all.
My father-in-law recently bought a new PC with XP MCE, and he has been very pleased.
Not being very technical, he has found it very easy to use. The integrated interface has allowed him to accomplish many tasks that he couldn't do before. Mostly because, pulling the many pieces togther and making them work together was over his head.
I am not a huge MS fan, but I've got to give them credit when it is due.
Sort of the inverse of what happens here on/.
Hi my name is John, and I'm a MS advocate... (mod down -1000 Troll)
Hi my name is John, and I'm another MS hater... (mod +1000 Insightful)
I'd be willing to bet that there are more than a few "nipple-impaired babies typing away at their keyboards in the parents basement posting on slashdot...
I think the country is going to hell in the proverbial handbasket
If you think things are that bad, then leave. No one is stopping you, go elsewhere and make the life that you want.
Contrary to popular opinion, procreation is one of the most selfish things one can do.
I couldn't disagree more. If you've never had children then you are woefully unqualified to make this judgment. You are, or course, entitled to your opinion, but I am also entitled to say it SUCKS!!!
Think of the future. Globalization. That means a leveling of resource use and wages, and let me tell you something: yours are going to go down more than Habibi's in the Middle East is going to go up
In my opinion, the real point is whether the money should be in the hands of the government, in the case of a surplus, or in the case of a deficit, in the hands of the individuals.
I would prefer to allow the individual to control where his/her money is invested.
Your welcome to your opinion, but I am not that concerned about how we are viewed by other countries, certainly not enough to let it sway my vote for President.
Do you care that most people in the US view far left wing countries in a negative light? I'm sure you wouldn't be swayed by US public opinion when you go to vote.
Actually CBS and the New York Times are about to break a story that the "FF / Slashdot" render problem is due to shortcomings in the Bush administration, and that John Kerry has a plan to fix it.
Time to kill all the rich white men and take this country back for the TRIBES!
You are kidding here, aren't you? I mean, uh cause I am uh white, and I wouldn't say I am rich but uh some might....Gulp....
and the best OS on the planet.
If you haven't owned a MAC in 8 years how can you pronounce it "the best OS on the planet"
Of course the lunatic left would never resort to "nastiness", oh no...
Dude you need to come up for air.

Actually "political" cloning has been underway for years.
How else could you explain the striking resemblance that John Kerry had to Herman Munster. She would have done well as long as Justin Timberlake was her running mate.
I agree, and offering free A/V isn't going to sway many people either.
If John Kerry had been elected this never would have happened.

Lets just wait and see about that.
Quit whining!!

Amen from me also, as a bona-fide Sys Admin I don't want to be lumped in with all you Software Engineering losers.
Glad to see we can agree on this.
Looks like Bush even got the voting machine's votes.
Amen on both.

Don't let the border gate hit you on the way out.
Typical liberal view, you don't agree with my views, so you simply must not understand them, because there is NO other way to look at it.
Liberal tolerance only extends to things you agree with.
Democrats "feel" and Republicans "think".
Actually CBS and the New York Times are about to break a story that the "FF / Slashdot" render problem is due to shortcomings in the Bush administration, and that John Kerry has a plan to fix it.
Because he'll vote for it before he votes against it ;-)
Kerry has had more than his share of "free" help from the likes of ABC News and CBS News. Don't think anyone had to pay to see all that.
Amen !!!!
I think I am going to have to add another layer of tinfoil to my hat to block this one out.
