Y'know, this file is taking forever to load. I only requested the dial-up edition, despite having a T1 line running in here. However, I'm still waiting for it to load about 10 minutes later.
I begin to wonder about the minds that brought us this piece.
Well, if you're going to set a system up to dual boot, you've got to play with the partitioning somewhere, even if that playing is invisible to the user.
Basically, dual booting is not something that average lusers should be expected to know how to do--they're mindless lusers, after all. Give them something that does everything they can think of and more and they will be fine.
Games? Who needs games on the desktop when there are decent consoles out there that are far better suited for gaming than a desktop is? A desktop is for work and media, but not so much a good thing for games. Why do you think I keep an old SNES around? Okay, it's because I'm rather broke, but I do enjoy the games for it much more than I enjoy the games for any desktop system. Playing with a keyboard and mouse isn't the same as playing with a proper controller.
Getting a.deb package for MPlayer from any repository anywhere is like playing Russian Roulette with your computer. Compile the.deb locally from MPlayer's source using $ fakeroot debian/rules binary, then install the package generated. Works better, actually, and you get the libraries you need.
Of course, you've got to have the proper dev packages to do that, but it'll tell you if it's missing something. Keep a persistant root terminal open to apt-get anything it'll say you need.
I'm still looking for a torrent for the miniseries and season 1, so that I can have the folks at home grab it for me--or so that I can get it myself when I'm not on campus.
Actually, I can't use my bandwidth to help them out. I'm behind a firewall, sadly, and I'm unable to get any bittorrent access. I would if I could, though!
Frankly, I don't think this is even the case. Yes, the FSF has been talking about making a GPL 3.0 for a while now, but the proposal they're offering makes no sense.
The problem is that it infringes on one of the four freedoms, specifically the freedom to use. If such a provision were to find its way into any license that made it so that companies and individuals were not subject to the same terms, the license would be both discriminatory and non-free.
Simply put, this is somebody making FUD about the GPL. Don't buy into it for a second.
Well, iTunes burning support would be nice (though no longer entirely necessary, as there's pymusique now). But then, all I really need is the ability to go from AAC to MP3 these days, so perhaps the current version would be fine.
I heard about this program last night from a friend. It appears that there is a Linux version (there are.debs for Ubuntu Hoary), but it doesn't work on my computer. I tried downloading the Windows version today before I got here.
And now I can blame a bunch of/. trolls for my troubles with downloading it today. Thanks a lot, guys. I mean really, you've made my life so much more fun.
However, I do like the idea of ITMS access without the DRM. I'm currently forced into Winblows to un-DRM my massive ammounts of iTunes music. So, I've got an 80 min CD-RW, iTunes, and an entire day to work on it, in between translating some sentences from English into Latin. At least I've got the portable hard drive to put these files on before I burn them off to MP3 CDs--that way I have a near-universally playable hard copy of the iTunes music I've bought.
Wait until I get that patent on binary. I'm going to open it up to free software projects and then sue Microsoft for the back-royalties. To the tune of $40 billion.
Funny little anecdote, I decided to try out photography after dropping out of Caltech, so Bruce lent me Michael's very expensive Canon A-1 SLR camera. It would accurately meter a thirty second exposure at night.
This is incredibly off-topic, I know, but I'm drooling over that statement.
I have this problem too, and I'm going to lay the blame firmly on Flash.
Basically, Flash on Linux sucks. It has terrible audio/video synching, and it demands to be the first audio played after opening your browser or the audio doesn't work at all. The only way to get it to work otherwise is to restart your sound server. For someone without root access, the only way to do that is to restart the machine.
I know, I just went through this. However, I had done so much kernel work that I needed a reboot anyway.
I'm all for choice when it comes to how to do things, but standards should be, well, standard. The point of such arbitrary standards is lost if the bodies that are supposed to arbitrate the mechanisms are squabbling.
However, given the members of the W3C that are in the breakaway faction, it gives me pause to think that the only non-participating engine coder on the list is Microsoft. It makes me think that perhaps the standard that our favorite punching bag monopoly is trying to do something with the web forum standards that the others aren't liking.
Of course, this is without R-ing the FA, so take what I say with a grain of salt.
Well, the Paneras in our area have a similar couched-area, but no fireplace. In the cities of Sugar Land and Missouri City (both have Paneras at which I've eaten), public buildings aren't even allowed to have fireplaces. What do we do to warm up in the winter? We go outside. It's usually a balmy 70 degrees.
See, I did get the full impact of part I, as I was fortunate to grow up with the show. However, that particular episode scared the crap out of me so badly that I didn't watch the show for a year and a half. Ah, the folly of youth.
Er...what about their processors? IBM makes the PowerPC processors that Apple uses in every one of its current models. I'd say that's a pretty big project.
Look at the domain. It's not from a porn website, but a medical one. Granted, it's still not quite right, but it is intended for academic/professional reference, not for porn quality.
They only filter out things that are porn and hate related, really.
The latter point was really the one I was trying to make.
Damn. Slashdotting an advertisment. It's kinda funny, but I don't think it'd work against Fastclick.

All because....
The Internet is for PORN!

Honestly, as it's still April Fool's on the West Coast of the US, I'm having a hard time buying the story.
If it is indeed true and not a part of the crapflood that is 1 April, then damn, what will I do with the extra postage?
Y'know, if I were a troll, I'd post a link to Tubgirl for that one. But alas, I'm no troll.

That, friends, is what Firesomething is for.
There's no menu editor in Gnome 2.10. You have to edit text files. They'll have that one worked out in Gnome 2.12, I think.

Sounds like a cool guy, though.

But then, that's my neck of the woods.
Well, not to put too fine a point on it, but to quote the average troll/AC, I must point you to the traditional Slashdot meme:
Netcraft confirms it: Windows is dying.
See, I did get the full impact of part I, as I was fortunate to grow up with the show. However, that particular episode scared the crap out of me so badly that I didn't watch the show for a year and a half. Ah, the folly of youth.
No, you weren't. Between that one and "The Best of Both Worlds, parts I and II", those are the best ones. Period.

Well, considering that you have to select that option now...
But they were quite pretty.
