    Yes. If both parties agreed to it, then they are WILLFULLY subjecting themselves to whatever is in there.

    If I want, I have the freedom to break my finger if I want.

    Whether or not such contracts are morally right, however, is another thing. Just because something is allowed doesn't make it a good thing.

    So I agree with you, but at the same time I can't. My brain hurts now.

    I'm sure if MS software was backdoor ridden, these would be found by blackhats VERY quickly, henceforth brought to public eye, and removed.

    Unless of course they spend more time, money, and effort on the backdoor than the house. Even MS wouldn't do that... would they?

    Sounds like you need to break in and teach his ass a lesson.

    Start with changing his wallpaper to a large font message saying "YOUR A DUMBASS! YOU CALL THIS SECURITY? SCREW YOU !"

    Leave it alone for a few weeks, see if he tries to change his ways. If not, keep the torment going. Hidden VNCs are nice.

    Simply bitching about it ON slashdot isn't going to do anything. I know _I_ wouldn't read very many of the comments.

    If it's that important to you, try emailing Taco. But BE NICE! Be civil. Then MAYBE you'll have a chance of being heeded.

    Just bitching and being abusive is likely to get that email deleted and ignored.

    The new BSG is fine, except for the damn cameras! I REALLY hate how they always have the zoom lense crammed up the actors face, and allow (or make...) it wobble around so much. Seems too... unprofessional.

    I can't concentrate on the show when all I see is what _looks_ like some jackass camera newb is filming it.

    I know it's for style, but it harms the show. In my opinion, which doesn't really matter.

    Seriously, though - our government has too many close ties to the oil industry (not just the Bushes) to let something like that happen.

    At least thats what I think - of course I don't know what's really going on, I only know what I see, read, and hear, and I haven't exactly gone around researching.

    The problem is his host supposedly doesn't allow any dynamic content except javascript and FrontPage. PHP/etc. won't work.

    The site itself says they are having trouble with their bandwidth. They have a bunch of mirrors, so why don't they at least OFFER a torrent file? Just plain stupid not to.

    It's a software switch, not always used for what it's meant for. For instance without the specific software it doesn't work. Don't trust it.

    Well, no immune system will be needed. They won't be growing these cells out in the open air. They will be under controlled conditions, and if a batch dies from contamination, irradiate the area and start again.

    What happens when a user wants to get an old file? Lots of times they get left on webservers (low demand, low filesize (not always)). A torrent however, might not have ANY seeds, and the user is screwed.

    Torrents are good for new, big, and popular files, its the not-so-popular and old files.

    Well, a poor connection to an AP adds between 50ms and 100ms to the ping, in my experience.

    So, that 50 base ping is pretty good, but when you have 100 added to it because of data loss and retransmission, it starts to get a little laggy.

    Thanks for all the information everyone.

    Yea, I don't have quicktime, but then I don't have WMP either (I use VLC and foobar2000 for my media).

    If I had money right now, I would probably be sold, but since I don't I might as well do some research of my own.

    The logo won't be a problem once I disconnect the light source and stick a resistor in it's place. The other lights should be fine.

    Virii/spyware/instability have never been problems for me, actually.

    I'm just sick of stupid crap with windows, and linux/bsd doesn't seem to be for me yet. From what I can tell, it wont be long untill those work perfectly on mac hardware, so if I decide to try I can probably do it.

    That iBook sounds pretty decent. Tell me, does apple have a lot of branding on its software and hardware? (logos, names, etc) - I'm practically allergic to the stuff and the easier it is to remove the happier I am.

    So the modern macs support USB? So my usb thumbdrives, my usb mouse, etc. will work?
