I don't think you can blame people for buying a product that they found out about through spamvertisement, if it's something they wanted. What are you supposed to do? Look at the message and say "Gee actually I was thinking about buying one of those, that one looks perfect, but since they spamvertised it to me, I refuse to buy it." 20. Re:DMCA violation on Australia Cracked US Combat Aircraft Codes · · Score: 1

Well, they distinctly mentioned 'radar' several times, and Mode 4 IFF has absolutely nothing to do with the radar system. They could be talking about any number of things - especially if the US jets were fielding ECM pods.
These days, our deployed craft generally fly with NATO codes. I don't know if it was the same back then, but if it was, it would have been pretty presumptuous of the USA to simply hand over the codes.
And the codes aren't fixed for commercial aircraft. They don't have Mode 4 at all. They have the other modes of operation, though: 1, 2, 3, and C. They're either set manually in the cockpit or automatically generated (Mode C simply transmits the craft's altitude). The ones set by flight crew are almost always assigned by air traffic control.

ORDB just shut its doors. From their closing announcement: (emphasis mine)

We regret to inform you that ORDB.org, at the ripe age of five and a half, is shutting down. It's been a case of a long goodbye as very little work has gone into maintaining ORDB for a while.

Our volunteer staff has been pre-occupied with other aspects of their lives. In addition, the general consensus within the team is that open relay RBLs are no longer the most effective way of preventing spam from entering your network as spammers have changed tactics in recent years, as have the anti-spam community.

We encourage system owners to remove ORDB checks from their mailers immediately and start investigating alternative methods of spam filtering. We recommend a combination involving greylisting and content-based analysis (such as the dspam project, bmf or Spam Assassin).
