Just because they don't have insurance doesn't mean they can't compensate you. How many times a day does correlation v causation have to be covered on slashdot?
All this linux fanboyism is annoying. I like linux too, but no one has presented anything but assumptions with regard to linux booting faster than windows.
I don't think you can blame people for buying a product that they found out about through spamvertisement, if it's something they wanted. What are you supposed to do? Look at the message and say "Gee actually I was thinking about buying one of those, that one looks perfect, but since they spamvertised it to me, I refuse to buy it." Sounds a little childish and stubborn.
Sounds a little like voting with your wallet.
Monster makes supposedly 'high quality' A/V cabling, Blue Jean makes custom and non-custom cabling, that happens to actually be high quality, sans quotes.
From the 135th page of the PDF, page number 27.3, their 'lights out' procedure...
(2) When JOC calls with the first notification:
(a) Camp Delta CO will have one of the Administrative NCOs, working in Camp-1, using whatever means available (i.e. golf cart, HMMWV) move to the power substation adjacent to the water tanks by Camp Bulkeley. Admin NCO will carry a SABRE radio.
(b) Upon arrival will enter the gate by entering the number (1998) in the combination lock.
(c) Proceed to the junction box with the number (7012-83) Breaker Box and open the box. The number for the lock on the breaker box is (224). And it goes on.:D
Well, the USAF fields LANTIRN pods, and piping the infrared sensors through to the helment seems like a pretty trivial exercise to me. I just don't see the point. If you're going to be looking -down- anyway, why not just aim with your MFD?
And yet, just a short time after the arrival of Homo Sapiens on this planet, it is falling apart. Nature did fine for however many hundreds of millions of years before we showed up. Anything that is inimical to nature can't really be defined as natural, can it?
Well, they distinctly mentioned 'radar' several times, and Mode 4 IFF has absolutely nothing to do with the radar system. They could be talking about any number of things - especially if the US jets were fielding ECM pods.
These days, our deployed craft generally fly with NATO codes. I don't know if it was the same back then, but if it was, it would have been pretty presumptuous of the USA to simply hand over the codes.
And the codes aren't fixed for commercial aircraft. They don't have Mode 4 at all. They have the other modes of operation, though: 1, 2, 3, and C. They're either set manually in the cockpit or automatically generated (Mode C simply transmits the craft's altitude). The ones set by flight crew are almost always assigned by air traffic control.
There's a thread running on dailydave with some speculation as to the gory technical details of the iPhone. The thread includes a job offer from someone who is apparently an Apple hiring director:D
ORDB just shut its doors. From their closing announcement: (emphasis mine)
We regret to inform you that ORDB.org, at the ripe age of five and a half, is shutting down. It's been a case of a long goodbye as very little work has gone into maintaining ORDB for a while.
Our volunteer staff has been pre-occupied with other aspects of their lives. In addition, the general consensus within the team is that open relay RBLs are no longer the most effective way of preventing spam from entering your network as spammers have changed tactics in recent years, as have the anti-spam community.
We encourage system owners to remove ORDB checks from their mailers immediately and start investigating alternative methods of spam filtering. We recommend a combination involving greylisting and content-based analysis (such as the dspam project, bmf or Spam Assassin).
Well played, sir or ma'am.
No, you start as a Captain.

It's not Steve Jobs the individual that they're worried about losing, it's his proprietary reality distortion field.

Empirical data or gtfo.
Windows was mentioned too. It's obvious that you didn't RTFS. I won't bother refuting the rest of your informative trollery.

Best comment of the week, if not longer. Be my friend.

I love it.

US Pilots have had this for a few years at least, it's called JHMCS, Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing System.

Whoever submitted this should be shot, whoever accepted it should be tarred and feathered.
