I agree. I see a lot of people talking about free speech and quoting the constitution, but ignoring libel & defamation. Being able to speak anonymously as a whistleblower or protester is one thing; ruining the reputation of a person or business with falsehoods is quite another.
"'Though boycotting the conference won't have a big impact on EMC's bottom line"... not buying their products because there's a f-cking backdoor in it will.
I heard about this on NPR this morning. The astronauts were saying they think they can finish it in two space walks instead of three and hopefully have the day off on Christmas.
Helpless ward of the state? Because I don't want people starving to death? You could make the small logical conclusion that I am at least connected to the internet and writing in English, so I'm obviously not in a 3rd world refugee camp. In fact, I live in the U.S. and work for a publicly traded corporation as a 'consultant'. I live quite comfortably.
Or did you think I was writing in a public library, after collecting my welfare check and food stamps, I decided to go on slashdot and get in an unimportant argument with some random internet troll? The truth is, I'm just bored at the moment and waiting for clients to get back to me. Maybe I'll convince you to gain some sympathy for people less fortunate, but I doubt it.
I'm not a fan of Monsanto's corporate practices but I don't dismiss the science of genetic modification blindly. Golden rice is being offered with a free license http://goldenrice.org/Content1-Who/who4_IP.php and your solution "let's just grow carrots instead of rice" is ignorant. Simply look at a rice paddy and imagine people wading through water searching around for a root plant. http://tcktcktck.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/7350698472_846b2b3cfb_b.jpg The other problem is culture. It sounds like you have a personal vendetta against poor people, an extreme bias against GM, and a lack of understanding in farming & culture.
There's simply no need to bother with franken food.
Spoken like someone who has plenty of options to eat.
"The research that led to golden rice was conducted with the goal of helping children who suffer from vitamin A deficiency (VAD). In 2005, 190 million children and 19 million pregnant women, in 122 countries, were estimated to be affected by VAD. VAD is responsible for 1–2 million deaths, 500,000 cases of irreversible blindness and millions of cases of xerophthalmia annually.
Because many children in countries where there is a dietary deficiency in vitamin A rely on rice as a staple food, the genetic modification to make rice produce the vitamin A precursor beta-carotene is seen as a simple and less expensive alternative to vitamin supplements or an increase in the consumption of green vegetables or animal products."
Golden rice is genetically modified to include Vitamin A. There are plenty of people dying from a lack of vitamins.
"The research was conducted with the goal of producing a fortified food to be grown and consumed in areas with a shortage of dietary vitamin A, a deficiency which is estimated to kill 670,000 children under the age of 5 each year"
His verdict applies tothe entire country. His 'limited jurisdiction' only applies to the types of cases he can take, not to a specific region.

He's a federal judge. If he did not stay the ruling, the NSA would be forced to stop. Granted there is obviously going to be an appeal, but during the appeal process the NSA would have to follow the original ruling.

I know they both sell things online, but aren't there fundamental differences (people being the suppliers of products versus companies) that put them in slightly different markets?
It's referred to as the 'genesis block', which was created by Satoshi Nakamoto. So far, those bitcoins have not been circulated and are still 'owned' by Satoshi Nakamoto. He could come out of obscurity tomorrow by using one of those bitcoins and adding a message to it.
The amendment corresponds to the registrar of motor vehicles: "The registrar of motor vehicles shall deny the application of any person for a license as a motor vehicle dealer, motor vehicle leasing dealer, or motor vehicle auction owner and refuse to issue the license if the registrar finds that the applicant:
(11) Is a manufacturer or a subsidiary, parent, or affiliated entity of a manufacturer. applying for a license to sell or lease new or used vehicles at retail. Nothing in this division shall prohibit a manufacturer from disposing of vehicles at wholesale at the termination of a consumer lease through a motor vehicle auction. This division shall not serve as a basis for termination, revocation, or non-renewal of a license granted prior to the effective date of this provision."
How much of your class is really about memorization? Maybe you should try reading "Getting things done" by Paul Allen instead.

Do you use any formal method to writing, such as the snowflake method? Also, do you recommend any software tools for writing?

Depends on the philosophy course. Symbolic logic was not a matter of opinion or history for me. Take a look at Charles Parsons

We'll find out who he is when the original bitcoins are used. In the meantime, an anonymous blogger making speculative claims is not really news.
And in other news, rioting at stores decreased by 21%.
