I really can't see the point on downloading a movie, when I can easly rent a DVD... I can do it by phone, or online, and it will be delivered faster than any download.

Also, I can't immagine how movie downloads can drag people's interest without an easy way to burn them into DVDs, or even VCDs, ITMS way. And I doubt that the movie industry would allow something like this.

Worst, I don't think that there is a demmand for a portable video player. Of course its cool to be able to watch a movie during a long trip, but that's about it... You can't use it while you work, or while joggin, or studying, or driving! Watch a movie requires your attention, its an exclusive activity.

On the other hand you can listen to your iPod wherever you are, whatever you may be doing at the time.

    The funny thing is...

With so many efforts to bring more usability to both KDE and GNOME, does Google really needs to release an OS? Does they need to worry about what Microsoft is doing to Windows? I don't think so, all of their web-based applications run well on Windows, and even if Microsoft does something nasty to IExplorer there will always be Firefox and Opera.

The OS itself is becomming less, and less relevant. The applications are what really drives the user needs. And Google has provided lots of web applications that are OS agnostic.

Thats whats driving Microsoft mad, Google is slowly making Windows NOT relevant.

Now, imagine a Google plugin that integrates OpenOffice with Gmail, one that allows you to perfectly preview and make simple modifications to your attached documents online. With almost 2.5GB of online storage I could keep all my documents there, and access them from whatever OS I'm using at the moment. This can cause some severe damage to Microsoft, one that wouldn't be easly recovered.

As long as you can edit, preview and print your documents... does it really matter what OS youre using?

Apple probably will support a thin subset of the avaliable Intel ChipSets. They'll not going to support every chipset, and commodity hardware out there.

Actually I think this is how they'll prevent MacOSX from running on other hardware, by not providing ChipsetDrivers. Of course there is OpenDarwin, and there will be lots of hackers out there providing drivers to support their favorite Mother Board and processor... And Apple will gladly use all those contribuitions in the future if they switch to AMD, or in a possible generic version of MacOSX.

And about the peripherals, I guess what works today will work tomorrow with Intel. Take for example Linux, where almost every driver that work on x86 also work with PPC. May be some Endianess issues, but I guess Apple can handle it.
